If i am in Pensacola waiting months for NIFE to start, am i able to take a 3 week international vacation assuming I’ve accumulated the leave?

Depending on the country you want to go to, the approval process can be a couple of weeks (Canada/europe etc) to several months ("yellow flag" countries).
Just pay someone to say you’re at your HHG when they call your name for muster or whatever they do nowadays

Go talk to the command security manager and ATFP type. They can talk to clearance implications and APACS shit.

Huh, that is a bit of a reversion then. I knew a few guys in the squadrons who dipped but very few did it often, there while there were a few guys who smoked while drinking but I only knew one non-prior O who smoked 'full time' along with a handful of priors. Zyn or the like doesn't seem to be too much of a thing among the military here at work, still a stubborn minority that smoke though.

I think this is probably generational. When I said there are guys/gals who took up zyns, I mean people who didn't even dip before that are doing it. I'll say that any kind of nicotine is perhaps helpful when studying long hours/flying long hours for some people. And I think Zyn seems less harmful to newcomers, than perhaps chewing tobacco (and probably less taboo as well). But to say that it has exploded amongst the ready rooms of the USN would be a tremendous understatement. Which I guess is my point. It's a bad health choice, and though not nearly as nasty as dip, it carries with it many of the same long term health risks. I know that is hard to worry about when you are strapping into a grey jet and will be flinging yourself at the ramp in the dark in a few hours. At least that was my mentality at one point. But it was a dumb mentality.

Looking back, I wish I got deathly ill and vomited the first time I ever dipped...but I didn't. I rarely flew without a dip in, bc it was a bad habit that was hard to break at that point. With regards to smoking, the CH-53E was designed with 2 ashtrays in the cockpit for each pilot...they had long been removed by the time I flew them though. :(
