Update: They pulled my travel claim and realized I was authorized 10 days lodging per diem. Note to all API Ensigns who got screwed with BAH-T. From reading the JFTR and the current API welcome aboard package. If you recieved BAH at a stash location (ROTC USNA etc). Chances are in your favor that you were/are authorized BAH. There is a NOTE in bold that states:

*
NOTE: Service academy and ROTC graduates without dependents, who remain at the graduation/

commissioning location following graduation and commissioning before proceeding to another duty station and are not assigned Government quarters, are authorized a housing allowance at the without-dependents rate for the graduation/ commissioning location through the day prior to departure en route to the training location. If the officer acquires dependents, the officer’s housing allowance with-dependent rate becomes based on the dependents’ location effective the date dependents are acquired.

.....

For the purpose of BAH only, the initial entry-training site is defined as a PDS. A member without dependents is not authorized BAH since Government quarters are assigned. The BAH rate for a new accession with dependents is based on the dependents’ location if they are located inside the U.S. If dependents are located outside the U.S., BAH is based on the training site location.

based on JFTR Para 10416.A for BAH and JFTR Para. U7125.B for Per Diem

looks like no Q=full BAH. If you get the Q this doesn't apply

THE NAVY NEVER HESITATES TO TAKE BACK OVERPAYMENT. NO ONE SHOULD ALLOW UNDERPAYMENT.

You fill out an Advanced Travel pay form. You won't get the whole shebang, but you'll get a large percentage of it. This is NOT to be confused with Advanced Pay.

Allow me to flog a dead horse here. If I was BDCP (read: for all intents and purposes, Prior enlisted active duty) with PCS orders (at the end of OCS) to temporary duty under instruction (TEMDUINS) at NASC for API with follow-on PCS orders to Corpus, am I entitled to Per Diem??

More important question: If I am, how in the HELL am I going to explain this to a Petty Officer here so that they can understand and fix it when I spent like 2 hours in Pcola with no luck?

According to PSD here in Pensacola, if you have the line about TEMDUINS in your accounting data, you get per diem. You have to check the date on your orders though, they give you an order modification when you get your orders to primary and add in the TEMDUINS line. If that is what happened to you, you only recieve per diem from the date of the order modification. Its bad when PSD acknowledges that we're being gipped out of per diem but I'm happy just being here. :D

My orders to Corpus were cut 6 days before I checked out, and this would be appropriate to how much they paid me, HOWEVER, my orders from OCS (without primary orders) STILL say TEMDUINS to API. Am I still Entitled?

Have you talked with the psd guy at the wing? We had him today and he seemed really knowledgeable.

You know, you should just be happy that your not in the air force. I pray to g-d everyday and thank him for that. ;)
