This "unrest" is being called the beginning of the Islamic revolt in Europe. That the French -- who blocked us at every turn in fighting the War in Iraq and called the Muslim terrorists "freedom fighters" -- are being burned is a delicious slice of poetic justice.

100 years from now Europe will be the Republic of Islamic States or some bullsh!t.

Sounds like the unrest is continuing, with over 3,000 vehicles having been torched thus far. The main problem seems to be that the there is no central control over the trouble-makers, leaving Mr. Chirac with no one to surrender to. We trust this will soon be resolved.

seems like a lot of Muslims don't actually READ the Koran, more that they look for the cool passages - kinda like when a 15 year old kid reads a romance novel and skips from sex scene to sex scene.

Probably more like a lot of Chrisitians don't actually "read" the bible, just look for the memorable passages... I understand what you are saying, but see how it can be applied to other religions as well?

There are various types of Imams out there, ranging from the liberal to the conservative/ultra reactionary and as a result those who listen to them are going to be exposed to messages that differ from the next persons when dealing with the same subject matter. Same happens in Christianity and other religions.

2) The rioters being Muslim have about as much bearing on the situation in France as the fact that the majority of rioters in LA were Christian. This is not a religious struggle... it's a class struggle. Maybe if you bothered to learn the backstory or got your news somewhere besides freerepublic.com you'd know that.
