FY12 STA-21 Applicants

JEEPLOVINDAD, thanks for your response. Ive been pretty nervous lately after realizing something only just a few weeks ago. I know that the program requires your last 5 Observed evals(if applicable). Problem is...I had just checked into new command in JAN...so last eval was a NOB.

So of the 5 evals I had included the last one was NOT OBSERVED. I am aware that some ppl dont have 5 evals at all, which is why the 5 observed are only required if they apply. Still upset with myself that after looking over my package 1000 times I did not catch that. Just worried, because I dont know if my package was even looked at by board.

When I check my package status IT DOES say that 5 evals were received and there are NOT any notes included. Still worried...All I can do now though is wait though and stay positive

That's tough. At this point it seems that they missed it as they definitely would have noted such a major discrepancy. Over the hundreds of applications, hopefully this one mistake slipped through unnoticed.

I've been an alternate twice and The Citadel (Charleston, SC) seems to be one of the most military friendly colleges in that respect, especially if you're a non-engineering major.

I really hope that you get it this year!

I found out this year that there is never any review of previous submissions or results. Which means that if you are applying for the second or more time, make sure you say that in your personal statement. Also highlight if you were a previous alternate. Just some advice given to me from a CDR who sat the board last year.

Should this actually be done? I understand that updating information in the database makes communication and notification easier in theory. Do they frown on transferring while applying? The instruction reads that you can transfer as long as you receive official hardcopy orders prior to July 1. Does anyone else have any experience with this?
I completed my package at HSM-40 and it was mailed in on June 3rd while I was on transfer leave to my next command. I contacted STA-21 and they told me it doesn't matter if your CO recommendation is different than the command your currently at as long as you had tranfered before July 1st.

I cannot wait for the results to come out. I log into the STA-21 website all the time although I know nothing new is there! This is my first time applying and feel my package is extremely strong. Are there any others applying for the Med Corps?

My husband applied for the Med Corps.

Nice, I was really hoping to be the only one lol.. What's his rate? I'm an AM so it was kind of tough putting together a package for the Med Corps.

He is an AWV. He had help from a some officers in his command who went through the program. He has his AS already. But for the LOR's he was told to go "outside the box" for them.

I think I did that last year. Maybe thats why I wasn't accepted! Luckily my CO reviewed my package with a tweezer this year and found a bunch of stuff. He sat the LDO Boards last cylce so he really knows what to look for.

Well, actually looking at past years, it should be between the 10th and the 22nd. There was a hold up one year and they didn't get it until Nov 20 something. That was the year of presidential election though. It has something to do with the signing of the defense bill maybe. Just try not to be like the fy10 guys and put crap on the forum to make it harder to dig through. Thats why they had over 2000 messages. It was crap. Do the future wannabes a favor.

Oh, you're gonna get a bunch of "crap", as you so eloquently put it, posted on this forum. There is absolutely nothing else to do during this waiting process, so a little light banter never hurt anybody.

The light banter is what makes this forum work. I remember the FY-10 forum that one was fun. A lot less worrying more enjoyment of the possibility of who was getting picked up. and the 2000 messages were mainly people updating on what the MCPON was saying on his Facebook page in response to the results coming out so late.

When you checked your package status last year did it still say that they had received all 5 evals?

Well if they're only expecting half the quotas maybe it'll be released in half the time...

I am in the Surface Community but it seems this forum has a lot of useful info. I have applied for the Nurse Corps Option. I have my AA in Health Services Administration, 7 classes left in my BS in Public Health, and am attending San Diego State for my BS in Nursing. I sent my degree plan and my acceptance letter in with my package. I saw a question earlier about additional documents. I submitted 33. I hope it wasn't to much. lol. Good luck everyone!
