Well that VERY quickly throws a wrench in the idea that the motivational statement doesn't matter, you were turned down with GOOD scores due to it, which is surprising to say the least. Also, interesting to see it can be "too long". Mine filled at least 3/4 of the available box per what my recruiter told me to do, but it was all written about being a pilot so I guess the board deemed it okay. Good luck, bud... keep plugging away, you got this!
Very much so. I actually had a full word document page, single-spaced, filled out. Essentially a short essay due to notes left for me saying "4-6 sentences" per guideline question. That being said, it is entirely possible that I was denied by chance pending which committee/board member read my statement. It is possible that if I had had my package/motivational statement distributed to a different member then they may have found it fine and given me a Y.
