ok, so a recruiter might be able to get a hookup for an eye exam, but not for a full on physical? Interesting. From the outside looking in it seems like it would save time and money, but I know that not everything in the military makes sense. Thanks for the insight

I didn't pass the DP test at MEPS and was told to come back with a prescription based on my eye test. Interesting since I got an eye exam a few months back and scores 20/20 on both eyes. My question is, based on the 1.0 Aviation Physical standards there are 3 tests to measure depth perception and I was only given the one with the sets of circles at MEPS.

1. AFVT: at least A – D with no misses.
2. Stereo booklet (Titmus Fly or Randot): 40 arc second circles.
3. Verhoeff: 8/8 correct on the first trial or, if any are missed, 16/16 correct on the combined
   second and third trials.

I'm definitely going to ask my recruiter about these and I'm also getting a prescription and am going to do some DP tests at the eye doctors to make sure.
Any input would be extremely appreciated, worked my ass off to get to this point and I really don't want one test to completely screw me.

MEPS uses USMEPCOM instructions if you weren't looking there then you were looking in the wrong place.

No, this is USMEPCOM policy on depth perception when the applicant does not have their corrective lenses: From para (4), p 38 of
http://www.mepcom.army.mil/Portals/112/Documents/PubsForms/Regs/r-0040-001.pdf :

"Note: If the applicant wears corrective lenses and does not have them, attempt to give him/her the depth perception test. If he/she cannot successfully pass Group B, do not fail the applicant. Annotate in item 73 that applicant did not have corrective lenses and must bring them in to complete depth perception test."

It is bad form to continually quote policies which are incorrect. This is not a retake. This test is not complete.

That said, how the applicant uses this information is up to him. However, his recruiter should be liaising with MEPS to inform them that, according to their policy, he should not have failed; he should be marked as incomplete.

I’m telling you that they won’t approve you to go back down but if you want to go down the long road of trying we can. But to do that you have to prove that your depth perception is good so you will have to get medical documents stating that.” Is there really no way he can contact MEPS and notify them that it should be documented as incomplete?

Your recruiter is incorrect about them knowing their instructions. If this is something you want to pursue (commissioning), tell him that you want to continue.

I have been adamant that I don’t want to give up and that I will exhaust all options before being denied. It was my first time going through MEPS and I was not aware that I was allowed to bring my glasses.... That’s exactly what he texted me.

Why wouldn't you be allowed to bring your glasses? I don't understand why you wouldn't bring them automatically.
