Helo Dunker Video

You should see the new "Swimmer" that they have at NAS Jax. I went there for my first requal, and you have to get flipped in a swet chair, pull your self hand over hand ~20 ft down a "rail", operate 5 different "latches, then they let you out. Blindfolded. No HEED/HABID. No joke.

On the plus side, the dunker was broken, and we did not have to do it.

Add that to the urban legend guys, dunker broke, no need to ride.

Yeah, we did that one at Miramar as well - no big deal.

I was the sucker who got seat seven for the blindfold ride... then to make things worse, I let go of my reference point and immediatly was lost "floating" in the middle of the dunker not knowing which way to swim. Those couple of seconds seem like forever. It wasn't long before the diver put my hand back on the reference point and I got out, but being lost in the dark, underwater is not a good time.

"Oh yeah, that thing has 100 psi in it--that's plenty. You don't need to trade it out."

I enjoyed the pool more before they got contractors running it.
I think I went through about 3 or 4 bottles during my initial HABD training...and I don't sweat being underwater, especially not with O2.

Very cool stories, the Dunker definitely sounds exhilarating. Does everyone exit out the same window? Or do you have various exits to escape from, all in all, sounds compelling.
