aside from the GTO, I would have to agree w/ this sentiment......I don't hate domestic cars categorically, but Pontiac....what a POS line of cars they have had for the last 15-20 years....
I don't know. I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, it gets pretty good gas mileage(26 city, 30 hw) hugs the road, and doesn't look awful. Have had no problems with it

Pontiac is experiencing a rejuvination. Soltice, GTO, G6, GTP's, GXP, etc. And for 14K you can have Mallett Performance drop an LS2 in a Soltice. Talk about a ROCKET.

I will admit that they are starting to bring their line back to life, but I would never want to own any of those cars aside from the GTO.....and only the 6.0, not the 5.7 :D

sounds like to have some big plans though......I would have to say go FI all the way. 1000 hp sounds like a nice round number :icon_wink

Went to look at a couple of GTO's at the local dealership today and the sales rep told me the GTO has been discontinued for the 2007 year. I asked if it was because they were not selling well and he said no, they have been flying off the lot. Anybody else heard anything about this?

Ok you have how much time behind the wheel of one? And the GTO is a Holden Monaro. Keep your match box car... muscle cars arn't for kids. :D
OK, so I was thinking about getting a GTO. Maybe I liked it a little, maybe quite a bit, but I'm going to stick to my guns on this one. It was designed by women for women, and I wouldn't be caught dead in one.

Still can't pack two dogs and all my ski gear in a GTO, then go drive through snow like it's nothing. Yeah, i'd love a muscle car, but the utility my WRX offers in addition to the fun that it is to drive makes it the best choice for me.

I don't think they're really comparable directly. I'm sure a GTO could waste it in a head to head pure speed match. On the street i'd put money on the GTO, but off road I wouldn't. The WRX is rally inspired, different design directions.

Dad just got a new SS Trailblazer with the 395HP LS2 6.0. Let me just say, it's fun. Pretty solid price too for a muscle SUV of sorts. Out the door for a hair over 40K. Does 0-60 in 5.4 and a 1/4 mile in 13.0. If you need space, and want something fun and fast, go check that out.

Hey, Navy Fed also gives a 30,000 pre-commissioning loan, one of our new ensigns split up his direct deposits to get both...

Because the Aussie's are known for creating 400HP muscle cars for women. Dude you don't have a damn clue. This is like arguing guns with squeeze... the design director for the Holden CV8 was Mike Simcoe. Subsequently built as the Vauxhall for Britain, the GTO for the US, and the CV8 down under.
Wow. Thanks for letting me in on that. Just think, I might have gone all through life not knowing how clueless I am. So the designer was a dude? I don't think I could have guessed that just by looking at the car.

OK, so obviously you didn't sense the sarcastic/tounge-in-cheek nature of my posts. Next time I'll include a disclaimer and add one of these :D.

I figure, I'll hang on to my '99 F-150 and pick up something flashy. A year old Z06 coupe with 10K is going for around 43k. To echo the sentiment from before, I love the heritage of American thoroughbreds.

I've got the same plan. I'll probably hold onto my (paid for) '01 Sentra until I make JG. At that point I'll be eyeballing 2-3 year old Corvettes. Right now the '03 Z06's are going for ~$30,000 on ebaymotors. Not a bad deal at all, especially considering many were bought new as "second cars" and as such are very low mileage.

Great minds think alike.

I plan on keeping my truck, that gas gusling beauty, even after I pick up that new ride because you never know when you need a truck. Besides, like you said, its paid for.

Does anyone remember the "Chameleon XLE" SNL skit? It was with Phil Hartman and parodied a luxury car commercial. The exterior was a POS but the interior was immaculate. Nobody looking at the car from the outside would ever want to steal it! :D haha

I tried to find it online but to no avail.... it's a classic though...
My friends honda looks like that. He thinks its a bumper car or something.:D
