I’m thinking with what the Germans are doing in Europe it’s only a matter of time before Japan attacks us. If I enlist now, do you think my chances of getting a Hellcat slot are higher than if I wait to get drafted. I’ve been told the Hellcat guys get more time at home than the Wildcat pilots. My plan B is to go PBY and build hours for a Clipper job post war.

Reminds of back in 19-dick-a-dee-doo when I joined the V5 program. Two months at Swathmore, two more learning to fly a Cub with the Civil Air Authority, then on to Norman Oklahoma for primary and Chicago for more advanced training. The train rides to each base were great! You should give it a whirl kiddo!
