How much different is the flight physical to MEPS?

I just came back from MEPS and passed. I needed a few waivers (retained hardware for example) which were easily attained. My question is, once i get to OCS and get my flight physical, how much different is it? I keep hearing its more in depth but how? Do they go through the same medical history that the MEPS docs look at?

You can find quite a few posts and information about it on this forum and even online.

Understood. But let me ask you this… does the flight surgeon or folks performing the flight physical look at the same records the doctor at MEPS looked at?

Nice try. Check out the “Ask a flight surgeon” thread with a lot of FAQs.

I believe someone also created a lengthy post on here about the flight physical.

You're not going to have an old guy stare into your butthole as part of your flight physical. So you have that going for you, which is nice.

Doing the duck walk in nothing but your tighty whities in front of everyone waiting for the hearing booth is the ultimate power move, and will ensure you go to the front of the line and have a private hearing test.

Its more in depth in the sense that MEPS does a quick glance over everything and either stamps you approved or not.

If there's anything odd in the past med history (retained hardware like in your case), NAMI will often require an additional medical consult. In your case, you'll likely need to see an ortho referred to by the flight docs.

Additionally, they spend like an hour looking at your eyes.

Understood. I was just curious because i have a history of ear infections (but none for the passed 10 years). I passed MEPS no problem, but wasnt sure if they missed something or if i truly am just good to go.
