I mean, I know the SECNAV isn’t a gazillionaire like the Mav, but damn can’t he buy a suit that actually fits? Dude looks like he’s wearing a burlap sack dyed gray. 😬😐
It's kind of like when you were a kid, and your mom bought. you pants way too big before school so you'd grow into them...same concept.

Just kidding. Are they still sending studs to Vance these days? Just a retired dude wondering…

To answer your question, no. Navy Students are no longer sent to Vance. The only Navy presence at Vance is the small cadre of Navy IPs who are there teaching USAF students at UPT. It’s an “exchange” program if you will since the USAF sends their IPs to teach SNAs at TW-5 in Milton.

Yup. Pretty impressive for a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds. They've also finished first in the national drill competition almost every year since its inception.
Norwich has a MUCH better drill team . . .

OK, i'm a bit biased. My son qualified for the Shock Platoon during his Rook year at Norwich, and performed on the team for his entire tenure at Norwich. Texas A&M was always a fierce competitor, but sweet Jesus, the pomp and circumstance surrounding their uniforms and boots was a bit much. IIRC, Texas can only participate in drill during their freshman year, but they do have an impressive program . . .

Bit ironic considering the Navy and MC wanted nothing at all to do with AFGM when it was filmed. The Silent Drill Platoon in the opening credits is actually the Texas A&M cadet drill team.
Interestingly, when 1996's Independence Day came out, the script originally called for Will Smith's character Captain Stephen Hiller to be an Air Force pilot. However the Air Force apparently didn't want anything to do with the film as it had Area 51 in it and the military didn't yet officially acknowledge the existence of Area 51 yet, so Stephen Hiller was made into a Marine Corps pilot instead.

They also would have produced all manner of CGI aircraft for the battles but due to technology limitations of the time that would have cost too much, so humanity had to fight the aliens strictly with F-18s instead:)

I do wonder given the film"s massive success if the Air Force was kicking themselves afterwards for forgoing that.
