Everyone in the CCMD I worked at before I got out is convinced we’d be at war with China by 2025 at the latest and I simply don’t agree with that notion or belief at all.
You've got to understand that that mentality, to a large extent, comes with the job. CPF and INDOPACOM don't get paid to have a rosy view of our adversaries in their AOR. They get paid to be prepared in case the balloon goes up.

We are intertwined with China at this point.
Thanks for that blinding flash of the obvious. Top notch analysis there, Mr. think tank academic. Did you read that in USA Today?

Of course I understand that’s what they get paid for. Doesnt mean I have to agree with it.

With what? Doing their jobs? Sure, we think war with China is bad, so what? INDOPACOM and PACFLT are just supposed to shrug their shoulders and not give civilian leadership options? Is that what you agree with? I'm fairly certain literally no one on any of those staffs, up to and including their commanders, are counseling we go try and whoop China just for the fun of it.

I'm really mystified what there is to disagree with in providing up-to-date military options to elected leadership. They're not obligated to take those options if they think it's a bad policy move. If you're going to agree or disagree with anyone, it's the elected leadership who set policy and priorities for the fleets and GCCs to follow.

I said I disagree with the staff I worked for that we are going to war with China by 2025.

I didn’t say anywhere don’t provide up-to-date military options to elected leadership.

No, you need to be one to know better. I think the correct word for your mindset is immature.
Why is that? We didn’t win. So we lost. It’s pretty simple really.

We left Afghanistan and now Taliban has control of it. The very thing we set out to stop 20 years ago.

We left Vietnam. North Vietnam took over south Vietnam. We failed to stop their advances and prevent it. Which was the goal.

Do you think ISIS in iraq just disappeared? It’s widely viewed that they are just waiting us out again. Just like they did the first time from 2007-2012 and as soon as they could they went and took back Iraq. It’s hard to argue we actually won Iraq.

How is stating facts immature?

Whomever is paying you at your "think tank," they aren't getting their money's worth. Have you considered asking your supervisor for a raise just to see the look of stupefying incredulity on their face? Probably be good for a few laughs around the office.

How is that a personal attack? Impugning your professional opinions and manner in which you construct an argument is not a personal attack.
