Anyone here who has done this program before? I applied for it and am awaiting news on my acceptance/denial. I heard the list was finished last Monday (22 March) - has anyone found out that they got the ISO program?

Ahh, that ISO.....Information Systems and Operations. I thought you were referring to something that was pre-OCS or API related since it was posted under API.

I am currently right in the middle of this program. I've completed 2 of the 4 required courses. I'm going to finish up the last two when I transfer to the reserves. I don't know anything about a list though.

That's a pretty nifty deal that they let you do it before API.

I just got through the program and I'm waiting on grades for my finals. Are you looking for gouge or just curious?

Jolly, No I didn't graduate from SFA.

Nittany, I was curious about a couple of things. When does your API class start? I was told that we were guaranteed our Primary selection (location - Pcola versus Corpus) before we started API. Is that true?

As of now, I finished up on March 26th and I'm classing up April 23. I reported August 8th, so it's about time! :) Things are, um, "fluid" in A-pool so that could change. Yes, all of us in the first group got our dream wings. That said, we almost all wanted to go to Whiting, so all the other wing 5 guys in A-pool are pretty much screwed for the next month or so. :icon_tong But I digress. Dunno if you'll get that carrot or not. Last December they tried to just randomly volunteer people because they couldn't fill slots. Then they ended up cancelling that class because the pull from the training wings was just too fast; they would have run out of bodies.

No order changes for me. I was already in A-pool, so I was considered stashed in grad school while I was doing class. We weren't PCSed to my knowledge.

I only stayed a few weeks at the State Penn. I was commissioned mid-May, reported to Schools Command in early August. But the freshman advisor at my ROTC unit is a Prowler ECMO, and managed to swing me duty with one of the Marine Prowler squadrons for most of the time. So I wasn't stashed at the ROTC unit for long, but I did wait awhile before I got to Pensacola. Sorry if that's a long answer to a short question.

Anyhow, When you report to Schools Command, you'll initially be stashed in A-pool. Basically, this is where you are while doing initial check-in stuff (NAMI, PRT, etc.) or if you're waiting for BOLTC, IFS, or API and haven't been assigned a stash job. It basically consists of weekday musters at 0730, done by 0900 at the latest.

One thing to add. I did IFS before ISO started. So I was in Pensacola for probably two months before I started grad school.

How were the courses? You took 2 per quarter, right (for a total of 2 quarters)? Did you have any other duties other than take those 4 course via the net?

No other duties. Probably the best stretch of duty I'll have in my career, too! Basically, we just phone mustered in the mornings, went to real muster on Thursdays, and had the rest of the week to do schoolwork. I was an Information Sciences and Technology major in college, so Databases and Networks were just a more in-depth look at some of my undergrad courses. Information Ops was really fun, going into PSYOPS, deception, etc. Space Systems was OK, but the prof has you do group papers over the Internet, which kind of sucks. I'm glad my whole group was here in P-cola. I also managed to bang out my private pilot's license on the side while getting nothing below an A- so far (still waiting on 1 grade, so knocking on wood here :watching3), so time wasn't a huge issue.
