June/ July/ Aug 2014 SNA & NFO Boards

Well with those selection numbers I guess it makes more sense. I just hope by some miracle I can try again.
Good luck to you man, I wish only the best for you. I'm pretty surprised you didn't get picked up with that GPA and ASTB score. Last selection it seemed as though they were taking anyone who applied. If only we had our kits in a little earlier...

Thanks! And agreed, if only I didn't constantly keep getting delayed. But can't win 'em all. Best of luck to you too, I'm still scratching my head what kept you from getting picked up. Maybe the OAR score?

Running the math, there would have to be a board sometime in August in order for me to have a chance. I HAVE to start OCS by Dec. 1 or I'll age out. All hope isn't lost, but it's barely hanging on.

Yea it would be total bs if what has been said here is true and the selection rate for this board was <30% when only two months ago it was ~80%. Why would they have such a frantic selection process instead of realizing their goals and being continuous throughout? A 55% selection rate for each board would provide overall better candidates than selecting everyone in one and no one in the other.

Anyway I still haven't heard anything about my status. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

Pro Rec N. Applying again in 6 months. Congrats to everyone who's made it so far, I hope to see you all in the fleet some day! As for those up for the next board, according to NRD Phoenix, next selection will be in October. Good luck all.
This surprises me, from what you have posted you have good stats.
This surprises me as well. I know that my scores were borderline at best, but Embry-Riddle and those ASTB scores... I'm confused.
Slots Available At Board = % ProRec-Y
Applicant Kits At Board

EXAMPLE:
Slots Allotted At Board = 48
Qualified Applicants At Board = 62
Selection Rate = 77.4%

Of the 14 applicants non-selected above, 10 of them may have had what is considered a competitive package. So you could non-select on a given board, with a packet/scores which would have selected on a previous board, or the following board. If you're really motivated for OCS, and beyond, you must strive to improve your kit where possible, and keep submitting until no longer eligible. It's disappointing to not be a selectee I know, but as always "Needs of the Navy" take precedence!

EDIT: The above example is in no way related to the results of the recent, or any other actual boards in the past. Simply a sample to show how various actual boards play out.

I'm aware, it depends on needs for that board as well and you are competing against people applying that round. Just for me, I am fairly confident I only had one shot for pilot. Another board would have to meet within six weeks or so and I be selected then. If not, I am done. (I know 90-120 days, which is why I'm not counting on it, or even barely considering it a possibility).

What surprised me is I never saw a person with an 8 on the PFAR not get selected of all the applications I saw, and this was with selection rates down to 25%, if the PFAR wasn't 8 then I would be less surprised.

Would you recommend I retake the OAR portion? Would I be able to do that and keep my 6/8/6?

It's a gamble either way, and no... when you retake you're stuck with the new scores (recheck this w/ NavyOff or RUFIO):).

Were it I, would stay with the 6/8/6, as it's "probable" that the next board after a low selection % board would have a significantly higher selection rate. I'd then try to improve the rest of the kit, however; that's just me. If you feel you can improve by retaking, then hit the gouge again and retest!;)

Got a big fat NO this week for SNA...... Thanks MEPS for delaying my physical for almost 2 months which pushed me out of the May board. Congrats to all who were picked up this round!! "Whose butt did you kiss to get in here?!"

I'll see the rest of you at the next one!

On a brighter note, my kit just got sent out today for the projected August board. I'm not really looking forward to the wait but at least I can sit back and relax a bit. I wonder what the deciding factors were for the PRO REC Ys in this bunch.
