March 2010 Boards

Here is a simple solution for the great date debate: Stop procrastinating and get yer package in two weeks ago. Once it's in, it's in. You can "plan" to be at a board all you like, but as others and I can tell you, it may not work out that way. The earlier you get it in, the better. Then you can join the fun of waiting.:sleep_125

The way my recruiter worded it made me think that it was a deadline of 15 Feb to submit it, and 25 Feb to update it once its submitted

Thanks for the post my scores are almost the same as yours, but at least I'm still currently flying commerically for a local charter that might help with the hours I have. I heard it helps a lot to have any ratings.

My stats

Wow! I thought I was in good shape until I read the Stats of the people posting on here. This is my first time posting on this site. So I’m guessing this is what is needed

Applied: SNA/SNFO/Supply

Graduated in Dec from Southern Illinois University
GPA=3.75 in Electronics Systems Technologies

ASTB = 54, 6/7/6

8.5 years enlisted (still active duty)
4 interviews:
2: O-5s (one is an XO of a FA-18 squadron, the other previous pilot now a SWO/IP)
1: O-6 (DGAG of an Air-wing)
1: O-7 (former CO of carrier, pilot instructor, and now working in Va)

LOR's my last command's CO, XO, and Department Head. (1 O-6 and 2 O-5s)
Awards: 3NAMs, 2 Good conducts, (recently earned but won’t be seen by boards) Iraqi Campaign Medal, and weapons quals...among others...
Very strong personal statement and CO’s recommendation
PRT Scores: Excellent Med and Excellent High for the last two...

Command took their time to finish paperwork, so I missed the Feb board deadline. But I guess that doesn’t matter now.

"Hurry up and wait...right?”

So what do you think?

Does anyone know if you can re apply to next board if you were not selected the first round, or do you have to wait 6 months?

You can reapply if you have a "significant change" to your app, such as new ASTB scores, medals (NAM and higher), new classes (like starting an MBA) etc. yer OR can give you more information. I will say, if you resubmit before the six months, you only have to fill out a few forms (like a reconsideration form), but if you wait six months, you have to do a whole new app.

I hope this board isn't as competitive as Jan. I saw alot of those guys get axed with good stats. If any of you have heard of guys getting picked up with such a low gpa let me know, it might help me sleep easier...lol. Good luck!

I thought the GPA requirement minimum was 2.2 but was later corrected that the GPA is now higher and I think around a 2.5. I don't think that will help you sleep at night but until it is confirmed by your OR or several other reliable sources I would think you are alright if your OR is putting your package in. To answer your question more directly I have seen a couple of stats of individuals picked up sometime ago with around a 2.2 but I can't remember how far ago that was. Good Luck to you as well!

Applying for SWO

I have already been a non-select for SNA and Supply, I really hope that I get selected SWO. It is what I really want to do. I already think that if I'm not selected this time, that I will re-apply in the future. However, I don't know how long I can put off not having a job to chase this dream although it is definitely what I want to do. Best of luck to you guys, I've put my heart and soul into this application process and the two non-selects have been pretty disappointing, but maybe I'll get lucky this time around...
