Sweet, that sounds awesome. I leave on the 19, I can't wait. Are there any Hornet squadrons around Mayport? I know it is a long shot but I wanted to get on the list to see if I could get a back seat ride.

Nearest is going to be MCAS Beaufort

Marine Air Station. We have a few Hornet squadrons based there.

Considering you'll be at NAS Mayport... and you have no ejection seat training... yeah pretty slim.

Yeah, it is HSL for sure. What type of helo's does that entail? Punk, does he have the same dates?

yep, same dates

and sorry to burst your bubble, buy you got a very slim chance of riding in the Hornet, the water survival/ejection training pretty much guarantee that

Well I did the Aviation Physiology stuff down at P'cola and we did the static ejection seat training. Either way, it should be a cool time down there.
Punk, tell your buddy to look for Mike, I will be the one by the beer.

See if the squadron ops department will call the S-3 squadrons at NAS jax. Ya never know, they may be able to give you a hop.

Sounds good. So, when you guys go on an aviation cruise how do you usually get around town and back and forth from the beach? I know that I could always take a taxi but that would get old after awhile.

Usually your squadron will hook the mids up with a duty van of some sort for the duration of the cruise. Hopefully you will have a devout mormon mid who can DD. Otherwise, cab it. Don't take any chances, especially in the Jax area.

Oh yeah, the shaggin' wagon it is. No, there is no way I would even think about drinking and driving one of those puppies. Might as well paint a big target on the side of it. Thanks for all the info guys.

Okay, I got another one. This might sound stupid, but is there going to be a sea bag inspection, PFA, Urinalysis, etc, etc....? Or will this cruise be more laid back?

PFA? Urinalysis? Uh ... doubt it. I've heard of some squadrons having mando-PT that the Mids had to go to ... but that it just about it.

For driving - if youre lucky you will get a hook up from the duty driver or a JO or another Mid who was lucky enough to bring his car. Not the case with my cruise - we were pretty much on our own for goin out if we wanted to.
