Maybe Coach Tommy can be air dropped thru the dome to support the QB he never coached? Go Eagles!

Video clips of VMM-764 flyover rehearsal

What's up with the black helmet stripes on the crews HGU-56/p helmets?

An interesting recap of the many issues surrounding the MV-22. Knowledge is power.

Griz, I have great respect for you. But do you have access to a weird AI Haiku machine? Or is it organic? Either way, it's impressive. 😁
Totally organic. I guess I paid more attention to the 5th grade than I thought.

Interesting read, but the author seems to be hung up on the notion of a hard mount forward firing gun, something no US troop carrying helicopter has. In the end the real question is - has the aircraft improved over time?

And therein lies the rub...
It seems to me that doctrine wise, the days of “hot LZ” operations died when we exited SEA and Vietnam. It took Grenada and Somolia to remind us again and I don’t think there is a field grade officer or above out there that that would knowingly bring any rotorcraft into a hostile fire area, with few exception. Defensive suppressive fire just doesn’t seem to be a solution.
So now what?

I truly hope this is not true. The only reason there is a hot LZ is because ground pounders are in a hurt locker and need the best support we can give them. If we don't do hot LZ ops, then what the heck do we even exist for? Support for the Marine, Soldier, Airman, or Sailor ON THE GROUND IN HARMS WAY is the only reason we exist. All other reasons are the verbal fodder of Staff Officers and politicians.
