I wore mini-wings on my khaki garrison cap instead of the officer crest.

Never had a problem with anyone giving me grief.

Not quite as much bling as this guy of course....

It certainly wasn't very widespread tho'... in my 23 years, I never saw wings on a 'P'cutter' except in WWII photos like the above.

I think the wings with the crest were required to balance out that five star device on the other side. He probably could have hung his brass..... on his cover too and no one would have batted an eye.
