Just my opinion, but I think the mess dress uniform looks better and more suitable for Navy Balls than Chokers. If I had a cougar date, i'm very certain she'd be impressed with my mess dress than in my chokers, not to say either one will do the trick. :D

One of the few things that make me jealous of the Boat School is the fact they get them and use them a good amount of times. I wish NROTC would do the same. Oh well.

While I wouldn't call myself a Cougar, trust me anyway when I say that Chokers are way hotter than mess dress. Way hotter. I am confident that 9 out of 10 women would agree with me.

And wear you cover to pick up your date. You can leave it in the car for the rest of the night, but have it on when she sees you waiting on her doorstep.

Better yet, have her wear it when you pick her up. That leads to fun.

Having had some many years of experience with wearing mess dress, chokers, covers, and especially with desirable but discerning women, this guy agrees wholeheartedly with your "9 out of 10 women." :) :icon_wink

(Experience counts! :D:D:D)

Mess dress looks ridiculous.
And chokers with mini-medals don't?? Why not go whole hog, wear SDBs with mini-medals and bow tie, and look like the 15-year-old rocking his old man's blazer at his first high school "semi-formal?" Sheesh. Some of us are sartorially evolved enough to acquire the right attire for an occasion. ;)

And has worn it to multiple formal occasions. Where, according to Master, about half the JOs were guaranteed future promotion. :D

mini medals on anything but mess dress = douche

extra douche points for big fat dude rocking it.

even more for the velcro "I bought these at the exchange" collar.

I'll take full size medals on chokers over mini on mess dress, but that's rarely, if ever an option.

It was a good time. I'm really glad I went. I wore a mini medal on my chokers, but most of the other A-pool guys were wearing large medals. There were a few Canoe U guys in mess dress as well. Unfortunately, my mini medal was snagged by my seatbelt when I pulled into my driveway, and is no longer serviceable. :(
