The CS rating needs to revert back to MS. Microwave Specialist. Everything made on the boat nowadays is pre-prepared, except for maybe the occasional One-eyed Jack or the famous Barney Clark. Ding, dinner is ready.

that's assuming you can find a CS in a wardroom willing to cook to order. you would the think the CS's on the last two ships i deployed on were unionized.....

wise beyond your years - tell your on-wing to give you an above.

Myself and other studs have already discussed how absurd it is that they'll trust us to SOLO a $6M T-6 or TH57 or T-45 or whatever, but we have to fill out a 4-page permission slip that's thinly veiled as 'ORM' if we're gonna drink a beer on the weekend or drive somewhere that isn't in "local" on a 72 or 96 or something. It all boils down the same thing...

NRC already has a shop that goes to different NRD's to help them increase their diversity numbers, in other words for the NRD's that aren't meeting their diversity goal they "help them".

Here is a good one though, in order to help find AA qualified candidates they go to schools and setup a basketball hoop game, talk about stereotyping.
Last time I checked, the military has a way higher percentage of minorities than the general population. We're diverse already, leave things the fuck alone.

Oh the dangers of alcohol, had a sailor get into a verbal with his neighbor, police called, charged with drunk and disorderely .03 or .04 and was the proud recipient of an ARI.

Unfortunately for you, someone somewhere messed it up for everyone. Go to the Navy Safety Center and read Friday Funnies. Absolute retards. That's why.

... Further - riding a bike in inherently dangerous - no matter how bad ass and savy you think you are - there are shitty car drivers out there trying to hit you. ...

Bullshit, I am bad ass AND savy. I will never be hit by anyone, no matter how hard they try to, intentionally or not.

To reply to ea6bflyr: Rather, whoever he was responding to... just think bird slayers. i.e. absolute retards.

(p.s. they're still out there cause daddy's an admiral! That's why we "need" g*y shit like this)

Every so often, there's some true stupidity on there, but most of the time it's just some asshole making fun of people who were trying to do their jobs. Most of it is along the lines of, "A Lance Corporal was trying to secure a latch on an aircraft and fell off his ladder. Guess he learned the hard way that the law of gravity hasn't been repealed." Har, har. There are a few leave and libbo incidents that are mildly amusing, but most of them aren't too far outside the meat of the bell curve on the stupidity quotient, especially considering the bulk of our people are males, 18-25.

Most of these things are along the lines of "doing something." Because we're "Type A" (I'm convinced that most people who use that phase have no idea what it actually means, like "delta"), motivated, in-charge types of people, and because our bosses are the same, we feel compelled to show that we're doing something even if we have no freaking idea what to do and have no idea whether our actions will actually solve the problem. The Secretary asked his people to give him a solution to alcohol incidents, motorcycle safety, and health issues. Generals and Admirals don't have any more capable idea fairies on their shoulders than anyone else. They came back with,"Well, we can add some more rules," and so it goes.

I just put two and two together and realized Bataan is part of the ESG that just returned from a 10 month-ish deployment. I'm thinking the SECNAV's staff might have done better to choose a different ship for this "pep talk"... I can only imagine the spool condition levels reached for this crew to get their ship squared away for the visit:

CDR Whomever to Chief Someguy: "Chief we need to make sure all of our spaces are squared away for the SECNAV visit."

Chief Someguy to SN Somedude: "Shipmate, these heads need to be squared away before the SECNAV's visit."

SN Somedude to Shipmate: "Man, I really hope SECNAV uses this head - you know since we're here cleaning it..."

“Over the past decade, you in the Navy and Marine Corps team have proven you can withstand sustained high operation tempo,” Mabus said. "Let's see how high of a bullshit tempo you can withstand."

From the Navy Times:

"To that end, Mabus announced a remarkable initiative: a 12-month operational deferment for uniformed mothers following the birth of a child. The Navy is also introducing a “career intermission program,” now in pilot form, that will allow men or women to leave and return to the services after up to three years, without penalty, after taking time off to raise a child or a relative. Service members will be allowed to retain their military health care and exchange and commissary shopping privileges and restart their careers “at exactly the point” where they left off."

This blows my fucking mind.

(pretend I'm still AD for the following arguments)
Could I take a year off because I was burnt out by back-to-back-to-back deployments? NO.

Would I be allowed to take a year off to take care of my ill father? NO.

You signed on the line, serve the same as the rest. It's not a fucking mystery where womb goblins and crotchfruit come from.

8 month shipboard deployments are now going to be the new normal. It was 6, now it's 7.
I can see a lot of strategic pregnancies built around the new family leave/sabbatical policies.

Anyone else wishing they had taken the SWOpain for four short years so they could go do anything else right now? I could be an investment banker, fucking millions out of their retirements and fueling my ferrari with dead kittens right now instead of being a part of this stupid shit.
