New PT Uniform

Is that for real? Why would we want to look like the Army? Are we going to start wearing f^#&ing berets too? There is absolutely nothing wrong with the PT uniform now. You can't mistake a formation of Marines in green on green for any other service!! I've RARELY seen the Navy or Air Force do anything resembling organized PT. And when they do, they sure as hell aren't wearing a standard PT uniform.

We already took that survey here at Cherry Point. Yeah... I hope you like to go *swish* when you run. Let's just hope that not too many people voted for the 'scarlet/gold' option, though, because I don't really want to look like the Average Joe's Gym dodgeball team.

What's wrong with scarlet and gold? That's what was worn when I went through PLCs.
I must,in all fairness, state that I have seen the Navy running in formation while I was on on layover in San Diego. At least I presume it was a formation run; there wasn't an ice cream truck in sight. But then my eyesight and hearing ain't what it used to be.

Just look at the vehicles in the parking lot aboard any MCB. They're all covered in moto stickers. If the "rank-and-file Marine" is picking the PT uniform I fear the worst. As long as the new PT shorts aren't "jorts"...

It sounds kind of lame. Plus, where would the candidates stick their shoe-polished 1/2" athletic tape name tapes?

This thread is useless without pictures of current and proposed uniforms to b*tch about.

I agree with that.

Also I spent 5 yrs in the Army before seeing the light and errors in my way. The Army's Pt uniform is not that bad. Actually made for PT as the Marines is not. Old nasty sweats are not that efficient. They coloring and styles need to be good though. The Army's uses grey and black, not some gay a$$ navy and gold like the Navy. Some pictures of the proposed options would be good to see. Well that is just my $.02

Ive got no problem with Green on Green, and it looks damn sharp when your wearing the sweats. Only I could say would be to abolish the Silkies as PT shorts, and just go with the trunks.

I don't think I own a set of trunks... I just always wore silkies... and at my last squadron PT, I think I was one of 2 who actually wore them

They issued us silkies when we did our big bag/little bag purchases, and then they gave us 2 sets of trunk style shorts when we did uniform Issue at OCS. The silkies were great for under your uniform especially for boots and utes runs, but the trunks made me feel less like I was a 70's highschool track runner and everyone thats seen me in silkies who isnt a Marine has the same reaction of "WTF are you wearing."

True... can't argue with you there... the silkies aren't the greatest fashion trend the Corps has ever come up with.
Personally though, I'm part of the 6-mile-a-year club, so I'm very rarely ever in PT gear unless it's a gree sweatshirt and normal clothes at the gym.

At least they don't make you wear the 70s socks...
