Maybe to the Chowhall, thats about it.

thanks Lawman, i was out of town this weekend and wasn't here to say it, lol... I'm glad I read all the posts before quoting... simple and effective

my vote is green on green. Sure, alone you might look a little odd in them. They might even be a bit revealing at times, but dangit, they are simple, cheap, effective, and can be used for just about anything in the Marines. On top of that, they fit well underneath cammies so if you were to want to run out of no where, its a simple as dropping trousers, blouse, and boots and throwing some go fasters on. But who the heck wouldn't want to run in boots n utes?

sorry for the ramble, im done now. its late and i just drove a million hours through some of the most boring parts of texas...

OORAH for the road lines doubling and crossing, lol

Green on green ... I dont like change :)

I second that. If green on green doesn't make the Marine Corps. distinctive when running around base, then the haircuts do. Chances are if someone sees a whole bunch of Marines Pting around... they're actually going to be ON BASE... and while I'll never underestimate the ignorance towards our military by the populace, I'm pretty sure they made the distinction that they were infact driving on a Marine Base. Besides, I think green on green is purely a Marine thing, haven't seen anyone else doing it. Its a tradition that should be retained IMO.

There can only be so much truth to the bike stealing thing... it seems that every Marine on Pendleton has either an RX-7, or a lifted chevy. Maybe its a K-bay thing.

As for the instinct to steal... its a matter of survival when you only get .07 cents of every DOD dollar. :)

When I was active and in garrison I would show up to work (Battalion Office) in PT Gear i.e. Green on Green (Very little green shorts). Go work out, and then cool down by completing any other office work while in said PT gear. Then I would shower and carry out the rest of the day

If I showed up to work today (civilian world) with the likes of the Green on green Silkies I am sure there would be some indecent exposure charges coming very fast. ( or at least some homo jokes)

Weird how acceptable Green on Green is while on base or within the Battalion/squadron area.

Silkies revealing? no way. I wore those around campus and even did some snow angels in them. On one hand people wont stop laughing when you're standing proud in those little green monstrosities, but on the other I met a lot of girls wearing them. You win some you lose some.
On a sidenote: I was in dress blue deltas on recruiter's assistance way back when and someone saw me and asked when the police got new uniforms. So I'm thinking unless you have had SOMETHING to do with Marines you won't be able to tell the difference in uniforms between services, or even understand what an EGA is, or what scarlet and gold mean. And if you do have something to do with Marines, you'll know us when you see our green on green.
I'll side with silkies, always :)

Even though I'm a Navy option I own a pair of silkies and I love them. And since I'm a girl it's not gay that I wear them...

nope, not gay in any sort of manner, its quite possibly hot, lol

lol @ herc...

I've been honked when i run in PT gear in my neighborhood, lol... I'm pretty sure those honking people wouldn't understand the difference of green on green vs the proposed colors.

green on green... herc's suggestion can be debated later on in an appropriate thread, lol

Its only hot at OCS.... after 4-6 weeks of being sealed off from what is hot in the real world.

And the honking was the drivers way of saying "Get out of the Damn Road!"

OCS has NOTHING on Bootcamp in that regard.

Try 13 weeks w/ absolutely no liberty and not even seeing a female on base.

ANYTHING is hot after that. Maybe that is why so many Marines go out hogging...this would make a great research topic for some sociology major I bet...
