Yeah, don't try to be too wordy. Write it all in one sitting, then put it away and read it the next day. Be eloquent but not dramatic - almost matter-of-fact. You're more likely to inspire an admissions officer to roll his eyes than to shed a tear with over-the-top tiresome blubbering.
