OCS 08APR2024 SNA/SNFO BOARD

There is often confusion on this as people think they need to renounce/can't be dual citizens to apply and that isn't the case, per the officer recruiting manual you can apply as a dual citizen but then you have to sign a statement saying if needed you will renounce, that if needed is when selected.

There are various sources that say that and that is a book that processors follow when it comes to dual citizens, the last time this came up I ran into two of the recruiters I see frequently and asked if anything was different and the one said there aren't too many duals that apply but the last one he accepted had to renounce before shipping out.
Thank you for this information, I did not know this, and is unfortunate to hear.
By selected, do you mean selected for OCS or future training where a security clearance is needed?
I haven't seen any 'official' site say I must renounce my citizenship. I have only seen posts on sites like quora and reddit, and the code saying I should be loyal to the US's prerogative over any other nationality.
Can you confirm, is this a hard set rule or possibly something waiverable/reviewed on a case-by-case basis?

Every person I know that was sent to OCS had to renounce prior to being sent to OCS.

I have not known any officers who were dual citizens, and if by some chance there is a loophole you are going to eventually need a clearance that will result in needing to renounce.

The processor at the recruiting district would be able to give you the most accurate answer as they have the book to follow that deals with clearances, some of the requirements to renounce are quite bizarre and it isn't the US requiring it. We had an individual getting commissioned for some medical designator and he had to travel to where the embassy was in the US and personally deliver a letter to the representative of that country, return his passport and then he had to sign a letter saying he was no longer allowed to visit or enter that country.

If you are currently a dual citizen then you should have signed an acknowledgement that you might have to renounce when you did your SF-86.

If you have a TS Clearance before you go to OCS does that help? Or do they make you do that stuff all over?

Unless things changed you have to renounce your dual citizenship in order to receive a final select letter.

I wonder why there aren't nearly as many people on this board's spreadsheet compared to the last ~3?
some people on the astb prep thread have put their scores in there but not on the excel sheet. Also could be due to instant selection being available, someone said their region had 40 people eligible for I-sel but only 2 people were picked by recruiter to go through with it so that’s 38 people right there that would be on this board that either just don’t know about this website or don’t feel the need to enter in data.

I'm guessing it's a combination of autoselect and all the people who got picked up the last two boards trimmed down the numbers significantly (especially those with high but not top scores). I expect since this is the first FY25 SNA/SNFO board and there are relatively few applicants we're in a good spot.

Historically few know about this site compared to those that apply, estimating the numbers going to board by using who have put their info into the sheet is just a really rough guess as often the number of those that apply historically is fairly even. The exception being if recruiters buy into random rumors going around and hold people back, which often puts those applicants in a bad spot.

That's something I've been curious about as well. It seems that if the last two boards managed to accept almost everyone who applied (we're talking a whopping 95% acceptance rate), the interest in SNA/NFO positions might have naturally dwindled for the moment. It's as though nearly everyone who was eager to get in has already secured their spot.

Therefore, with the bulk of interested candidates already selected, it stands to reason we're seeing fewer people applying this time around. Additionally, since the criteria for selection haven't shifted (other than the immediate selection), it suggests that we're not necessarily dealing with a more competitive or different landscape, just a smaller pool of candidates.

It's somewhat akin to how after a major sale event at a store, where shoppers snag most of the deals they've been eyeing, the subsequent sale might not draw as big a crowd, simply because the majority of those interested have already made their purchases.

That’s just my opinion…

this is why I think those of us who are on this board(myself included) are in a good spot here. My last board was that slaughter November 2022 board and let me tell you it's good to have hope for a change.

Absolutely, I also noticed they posted the selections for the AMDO board today, and only 20 personnel were accepted this time, a significant drop from the 45 to 50 in the last board. It definitely seems like the tide may be turning in our favor this time around.
