Do a search. This topic was covered in nauseating detail recently including such tidbits as: Drill Instructors ( are the Marines moving as well?), LDO/CWO's, class composition & size, curriculum, etc . . . etc . . . etc.A buddy of mine down in Corpus (VT28) told me OCS is moving from Pensacola to Rhode Island sometime late this summer, although I have not been able to confirm this. Has anyone else heard about OCS moving North or could it be that my buddy is full of shit?
Yep, it's true. All the DI's were pissed when my class was about to graduate. They said there wasn't a parade deck and an appropriate chow hall to do their 'procedures' in.
I'm sure they'll figure out something to harass the candidates with.
You mean you will, right Brett?
Yes, but the OCS that was resident at Newport before, and for many years, was nothing like the old AOCS and fairly different then the current OCS with Marine D.I. instruction. Marines are, in fact, adaptable and flexible(max gumby). But one can understand why a Marine D.I. would be lost without a parade deck or discrete chow hall environment. It isn't the location as much as the resulting program that will change to adapt to the new environment. Net result will be another slide toward the business vs military, stress card, self esteem preserving USAF OTS type experience. Bummer. What a lot guys forget is that OCS used to be in RI before is combined with AOCS in Pensacola. OCS in RI is not a new thing. It worked fine before. It'll work fine again. Is there a parade deck? No, not technically. But I assure you there are plenty of places for the DI's to use.
Concur. And it's SEMPER GUMBYMarines are, in fact, adaptable and flexible(max gumby).
Dude, You SERIOUSLY didn't include this sentence and Marine DI's in the same post, did you? I mean, c'mon!Net result will be another slide toward the business vs military, stress card, self esteem preserving USAF OTS type experience. Bummer.
Its going to be interesting how the candidates survive OCS during the winter months.
