Sigh....I already have family asking me to "hook them up" with plane tickets like I'm loaded or something. Geez!

Anyone see the problems with intergrating the OCS classes with the LDO/CWO classes? With what little I saw of the other classes I was not impressed?

This is not to discount their experience. But if you take a new OCS candidate and put him into classes with people who already have bad habits and attitudes that don't match that of the DIs will the new guy be influenced by this?

I am glad we had hardy any interaction with the LDO/CWO classes.

hmm..so any idea as to what'll happen with those of us that'll start OCS before the move and finish after?

Why don't you post your ideas as to what you think will happen, then we'll praise or laugh at you, as appropriate. ;)

I would venture to guess that 99% of those selected for CWO and LDO do not have bad habits and attitudes. They might develop them latter on after a few years of being commissioned, but they don't have them initially or they would not have been selected.

Not doing things the OCS / DI way doesn't make it a bad habit or attitude. In fact, it most likely makes it a realistic habit or attitude. OCS is fantasyland.

Wicked. This I suppose will be my first ever 'real' winter. I'll be there in January. Are we to assume this news article to be 100% accurate?

You weren't impressed because you don't know what you are talking about.
Bad Habits ??? Finish up flight school, make a contribution to your squadron and the fleet, then come talk to me (or any other LDO/CWO) about "Bad Habits."
As for mixing the OCS gene pool with CWO/LDO's yes, it should prove interesting if nothing else. I believe that the Mustangs will only do the first couple of weeks with the regular OC's before moving on to their other curriculum (I could be wrong here - anyone know the exact details?). Ultimately, being exposed to the quantity & quality of talent so early on in your career should be an opportunity you look forward to, not something you shy away from.

agreed

I'm hoping I'll get FL and not RI... I hate running in the cold more than anything.

So the Navy is making Newport the new training haven for O's?

Naval Sci Institute is there (right?), OCS is moving there, Supply School is moving there.....

On the positive side, maybe intramurals will be more interesting. Students versus staff or students versus base security got a little old at the supply school in Athens ;)

Don't worry, tiz - supply school will stay in Athens until 2008-2009.

If you're going to be in supply school two years or so from now, yes. Just before you get stationed in Groton Connecticut just down the street for your first assignment. =)

What do you have against RI, anyway?

I have nothing against RI. This is all just news to me. You never had one of those, "So where are we taking me" moments?
