October 08 boards

Is the pilot list out yet? I don't want to nag my recruiter, but I'm anxious to see if he got it submitted in time.
Bull, what went wrong? You don't need a completed PRT to submit (unless your OR has his own personal reqs).
Basically, I passed my running the first time (7 seconds off a good-medium), but failed the other 2 parts. On the 2nd and third time I more than passed (Good-mediums or highs) those 2 parts, but failed the running both times. I'm applying for pilot, so I do need my PRT done before sending out my packet (per my OR, not negociable -a must).

I would spear-head a new thread on November, but I need to submit my package before I put the cart before the horse again.

Haha, good point... wait until this board gets flooded with "I made it, I am going to be on the Oct board..." and "DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT, I got bumped". Then you will know it is time for the November board.

How bad were your push-ups/curl-ups the first time around? How bad was your run the second time? Like everything in life, practice practice practice... give it time.

I'm 25 years old, so I get easier #s:
(need 54cu, 44pu, 12:53run for good-lows)

1st: 45cu 38pu 12:22run(-->no walking)
2nd: 65cu 55pu 13:40run(-threw up during-->food trouble and too much walking)
3rd: 64cu 53pu ??:??run(-->both calves cramped and I walked half of it...)

Now I'm running everyday, and think I should be able to pass it with practice. I have a week to practice this time around; before I was taking it Tue, Thur and Tue again (e.g. with more rest time then training between with only a couple days per). I think it should be in the bag this Tue the 14th.
Oh, and the reason I failed so bad on the 1st day is because I trained the day before with cu and pu, and since I've been resting 2 days before for those parts.

Understating our running abilities some? Damn, I wish I could run a 5:40 mile... I'm not too far over a mile when you're finishing.

I just received an email from my recruiter informing me that we now must resubmit our applications through NASIS even though we have already submitted the application before. Also, we now have to go back 10 years or until age 16 on the SF 86. Basically, we are supposed to just submit everything from pour apps on to the NASIS website. I was issued a user ID and a password for NASIS.

Has anyone else heard of this or had to do it as well?

My problem is, there seems to be some problems with the form fields on the website: EX: "City of Birth", you type in your city and click the 'look up city' button and a list pops up. You're supposed to choose your city and the state and country of birth will auto-fil in the form fields. However, when I chose my city, only the city and state were filled in, the country of birth did not. Additionally, the form/page does not allow you to fill in some field manually (have to choose from the pop up menu). The main problem is, the site won't let you continue on to the next page unless the current page is completely filled out.

Can anyone shed some light on this? My recruiter has not responded to my emails yet. I am concerned because I am afraid I will miss the October board and my application is extremely time sensitive.

Thanks.

Jorgelito,

I think your problem is you are trying to do NASIS on Firefox, right? You have to use Internet Explorer. Those "country" fields won't pop up unless you use IE. That NASIS form is very detailed. It helps to know what they are asking for before starting it. It took me like 4 or 5 hours all told. Maybe more. Remember those answers because you'll need them again when you submit your application.

Sonicboom is exactly right. I spent a lot of time trying to get the damn thing to work until I tried it in IE. Just a Firefox issue.

And yeah keep records of all this.

Whoa, whats this about submitting online? I did my sf-86 online and the OR printed it out and (I assume) mailed it in with my package. Is this online application for October or for future boards or what?

It varies. I did it online, and pressed submit. I don't know of my OR printed it out after that or not. I know sometimes you have to fax it.

Wow, thank you guys for the valuable info. I was going crazy trying to figure it all out, uninstalling and reinstalling various browsers on my poor computer. You are 100% correct, I am using Firefox. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer does not install on my computer for some reason. I even downloaded Google Chrome to see if it would work. I am going to Kinko's in the morning to use their computer and hopefully it will work there.

When you guys say records, do you mean just hard copies of our applications? I have Adobe Pro so I was able to fill out all the applications and SF 86's etc on my computer and then I printed it out and handed it in to my recruiter who then uploaded it to the processor (there has to be a more direct way than this). So I have all my application stuff in PDFs.

I already have the hard copies of my application and SF 86 etc so I assum eit should be fairly easy to transfer the info over. It will suck If I have to quit my session at Kinko's and go home to retrieve more data.

I guess this means I missed the October boards doesn't it. Damn.

Kinkos = Horrible idea
With the private info you're putting in that form, I'd find a more secure computer that you can use - too much ID theft and you don't know whos installed what on those PCs... Anyway, are you not running windows? You can't really uninstall IE from windows. You might see if you can just sit down and do it at your ORs office. Shouldn't take more than a few hours.

Picaroon: Yeah, I did my sf86 online like that too - I thought he was talking about the application itself being online.

Yeah, I finally figured out what happened to my Internet Explorer on my PC. I had uninstalled Internet Explorer (attempted to) years ago because it is such a horrible program. I had no idea people still used IE. I thought Firefox was the standard. So I finally went to Control Panel--> Add/Delete Programs--> and checked the box for Internet Explorer and presto! IE 6 reinstalled on my computer. Crazy, damn near drove me nuts for 2 days. I almost went out and bought a new computer too. Now I am happily plugging away at the application though it is a bit buggy. It keeps losing my info now and then and my schools didn't show up for awhile either. Been at it for about 4 hours now. Should be able to finish the whole thing by dawn.

My OR's office is...sparse. He has a laptop that he usesand an extra one that is slow. I think it's a Pentium III. Plus I need access to all my paperwork and documents (like passports and old leases etc.) and internet in case I need to research stuff so it's better I do it at home. My recruiter does not have internet on the spare laptop.

The application I am talking about is the SF86 on the NASIS website. Apparently it's new and we are now supposed to go back 10 years instead of 7. Unfortunately, the application is highly inflexible and poorly designed for people like me so it's very challenging and take a long time.

Thanks again for the help guys and for the record: if anyone else is using this NASIS system and I'm assuming everyone for the October boards has to go to the electronic SF 86 on NASIS, just remember you have to use Internet Explorer. I don't know if you can do it from a Mac but just to be safe, do it from a PC.

Yeah I had to fill out the NASIS form for the October board. My OR had it printed out and had me sign it when I met up with him before everything was submitted. Speaking of submitted... does anyone have any insight to when we'll hear about whether or not we made this October board? The board meets shortly so jeeze, they should know soon. I'm going nuts here...

My OR told me on Wed that we would be lucky to know on friday... I've managed to stop looking at the calendar by telling myself I won't know if I made the boards until the pro-rec list comes out. :(
