i had my physical today at the MEPS and they did not even look at my teeth, the doc asked me to say AHHH for a second and that was it, everything went well but it did feel weird, it was definitely like a cattle call..even still, i was more worried than i should have been about it...so good luck to everyone else, dont sweat the physical like i did

Adrenaline, if you get a pilot slot you have to take a flight physical, and it is much more in depth than the MEPS physical. That is what they are talking about.

do a search on the forum for that stuff they will describe it better. but if you are going into a aviation field you will get a flight physical and the vision is checked more strenuously.

thanx ghost, forgive me for asking that question, i see it really has been beaten to death...now i just want to ask my recruiter when i get this done, it has to be before you submit your ocs package of course..dont know why he didnt tel me about this

Well I'll forgive you for asking that question, but you'll need to do some more research and reading. You'll find that your flight physical will happen the first couple days of OCS. I'd prefer the option to have it done before I swear in, and the AF does that, but the Navy has you do your flight physical after you get to OCS.

from the way my recruiter puts it if you get down there and are NPQ for flight, you can just pack your bags and go home with no committment to the navy. this is also how it is with BDCP. the only differnce on BDCP is that you don't have the opportunity to just DOR for a reason other than medical - if you do you have to go immediately to basic training and serve 2 years as an enlisted guy. on a non-BDCP contract you're free to DOR at any time and go home without obligation. my recruiter said he had an applicant who applied for pilot and wanted nothing else, was selected with a BDCP slot, and got down to pensacola only to discover that he had a subtle heart condition that NPQ'd him from pilot and NFO. the guy decided to come home and didn't owe the navy anything.

Find Paul Burke on here and look at his posts. I believe he was down at OCS on a pilot slot and was dq'd for something. He's probably going through what your asking about right now. I'd suggest for the best INFO look him up and E-mail him.

YEAH COME ON!!

i called my recruiter today, and he pretty much said the same thing that jim said...he said as long as its not my fault i.e. medical reason,, i have no committment to the navy even after i have collected money from BDCP...i would bet this event is a very rare occurance

sure sonny,,
ok i arrived at the meps, at about 8:00am, the first thing they do is get all your paperwork together and send to a place to sit down..and unfortunately they put me in front of a 50 inch tv which i refused to look at because i wanted my vision to be good for the test..after i was called up, they had me fill out paperwork which questioned if i had any diseases, hiv, do drugs..etc...next they had a breathalizer test, after that, they tested hearing, vision (looking into a machine),depth perception..Then they drew blood, took a urin sample..next they had us strip down, took our height and weight..then some doctors came in the room to watch us duck walk, stretch , and walk fast in our underwear...then we saw another doctor individually who tested our heartbeat with a stephoscope (sp?) ears, and checked for hernia (turn n cough)after that we were done. they put us in a room where we waited for the results, everything was good with me until the lab results for the urin and blood come back,,which i am waiting for now..Sonny it was a long day mainly because i had to get up at 5am to meet the recruiter, in total at meps it was just under 4 hours i left at 11:45, to me it was a very long day, but once it was over i realized it wasnt too bad

thanks adrenaline for the info! Did they put you in with all the enlisted guys, or did they separate the officer candidates and enlisted? looking forward to the duck walk.
