Prior Service going to OCS

I went through OCS as a prior 2nd class. Going into it, I wouldn't say I was cocky, but was comfortable going into it with my background and figured I may have an advantage over others. I don't agree with Brett often, but definately agree here. OCS is NOTHING like boot camp. I thought boot camp was a cake walk when I went through it. But after going through OCS, boot camp is joke. I doubted all those that said I would be scared of my D.I., and I was right. I wasn't scared, I was terrified! And you will be too...Just go in with a positive attitude and don't try to do too much. Definately don't act like your better than the non-priors, and you should do fine.

Boot camp isn't designed to make you quit; OCS is (or was...). That alone should key you into the fact that they're going to be very different experiences.

What an appropriate screen name for the OP.

Since the priors already went through the rigmarole of learning drill, ranks, general orders of a sentry, etc, they should be open to helping the young candidates who are not up to speed as Boomhower said before. OCS is a learning experience where you become aware that it’s not about just you but those who are serving with you, and if that is not understood then you will be lacking as a leader. Also from what I have read and seen here I don’t think smiling at your DI’s would be a good decision unless you are masochistic.
