Quick PLC Questions

My future brother-in-law is graduating from boot camp in about 1 week. He'll be doing communications in the USMCR as far as I know. He is wanting to do the PLC program and I'm not exactly sure what his recruiters told him before he shipped.

1. Is it possible for him to already be in the PLC program before he shipped for boot? ( His father said he was already in the PLC, but I don't know how that would work)

2. I have heard there is a form to get signed to release you from deployment commitments while in college. Is this true?

To answer question 1, I don't see how he could already be in PLC, but who knows? I am thinking the father does not have all facts straight. He could be in the the reserves first and then apply for PLC though. I don't know the answer to question 2.

I think the form is the Id10t form. You can print this off of a PRCe7. Just ask your nearest Gunny for a PRCe7 to print it off.

I know plenty of guys who have deployed while in the PLC program. The few I know who didn't deploy with their units because of PLC were OCS grads within months or weeks to commissioning.
