Some newer helo pilots had us casting out at 20 knots for 20’ instead of the normal 10 for 10 (also on our cast master of course). You felt like you lost a fight, and had good dose of mother ocean rammed up the ol tail pipe no matter how hard you clenched. No idea when he jumped but anything over 30 for 30 I’d ride the aircraft in for sure!
I was casting out of a -46 many, many years ago. The crew chief accidentally gave me the “tap” and off I went…at under 20 knots/30 to 40 feet! I knew as soon as I was out something was waaaaay off but you just ride it through assuming the proper position. Of course, I can’t remember if I put my eyes or my balls back in my scrotum but everything seems to be working all these years later.

Dude went out over Fuquay-Varina, NC. That is 25 miles from RDU. Not even lined up with 5R. No decent sized bodies of water around that community. Bigger ones closer to the airport. Article reported the plane was at about 3800 ft (Flight Aware) in that area. Kid was a budding airline pilot with all his ratings. Probably his first mulit turbine job. He was on his way. Very very odd.

Spore is under Rampart Aviation, which does a lot of support for Bragg. Rampart has many LLCs under it, all out of CO. Probably not agency, just an organization that has an in with Bragg.

I've met a guy who claimed to own a company in NC that did support like this. He was probably telling the truth, but I have no idea if it was Rampart.

Although I got a nice hour-plus in the Griz-O-Copter today I still have comm issues. My “tone, no voice” issue was fixed by buying a true 174 (single plug) cord for my headset and dumping the GA-to-174 connector. But, I am still getting “frequency bleed” in that I can hear and communicate with the primary frequency BUT I can hear comms over the standby/secondary frequency.

Just heard speculation that the Pilot sent him back to lay down on the ramp a stick his head under the ramp and check the condition of the landing gear, hit some turbulence and he fell out.

My plane just came out of annual and now the KX155 has almost no squelch (or no squelch) depending on the freq. I can also get some bleed over from the standby freq. This is on top of how the 155 can zap the GTN650 on certain freqs to force it into LOI. You may not like the answer, but I've decided that it's time to bite the bullet and just take it to a decent aviation shop, which I think I've finally found. But it won't be cheap.
