Yeah, yeah, your seats in the back of the E-2 swivel…Chuck operator’s seat was more what you’d call cattywampus and ill designed.
Not at all optimal but it works! I did day and night ops with this setup. Teledyne Talon FLIR from an Army/AF H-60 retrofitted to a Cessna 182 and 206. Sunlight readable display. Scan and track functions are very effective. Takes quite a bit of practice to master the button ology and the strain-gauge style coolie hat.

That TDFM looks a little long in the tooth, as well.

What's "ESM?" I'm assuming it doesn't mean the same thing.

How exciting it would be to get constantly bombarded with "FIRE CONTROL" alerts from a random Furuno while bombing around in your Cessna (if it was operative). It would be like old times in the Bravo.

Indeed! This is an early 1980’s vintage C172P, upgraded with a 180HP motor. It will soon be retired - and was sitting on the hard stand at Lunken nit being flown very much. I jumped at the chance to put some hours on her! Actually a great flying well rigged airplane with excess power to spare given the low empty weight.

We (the AF) just purchased 40 brand new Cessna 172S for CAP - and we just finished delivering the final batch from the factory to CAP. These came at the princely sum of $420K each and come complete with G1000 NXi, GFC 700 Autopilot, AOA sensors, etc. These aircraft will support the CAP ab-initio pilot training program which is growing.

I love the steam gauge basics of this bird however. GTN 650 is nice.

Are the divested aircraft going to be GSA auction or some other way to get a shot at purchase?
