Agree! And of course when it worked. The required test equipment and calibration gear was rarely available however. When HC picked up the day/night SAR mission on big deck amphibs, New production gear showed up to service the Doppler radar properly. Memory serves. You had to have the Apu online when you were conducting a night approach to a hover using the system.

Couldn't you guys just drag your dipping sonar? Like a curb feeler? Seems obvious...
 
Ugggggg…I watched the Blue Angles fly their circles today over KPSM. That’s great, they are great, but whenever they show up for Thunder Over New Hampshire the traffic is so bad the whole sea coast stops moving. I guess my patriotism is a bit rusty, but thank you for your service, just in case.

We're (the squadron) working the show Saturday and my wife wants to drive up from Kingston to watch the practice tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure that will be a lovely experience and totally won't result in her getting irritable...🙃
