A little late morning aerobatics and tailwheel (aka conventional gear) in this airplane today. A pleasure to fly. This airplane gives new meaning to rudder control - touchy as hell, more so with my lack of finesse. But fun never the less. 3G loops, aileron rolls, cuban 8's and I was ready to head back. Nice little .7

And then early this morning, up with the dawn patrol - soloed yet another 17 year old. Got him soloed after 10 hours of dual. He had some landing issues that turned out were anthro related (could not see over the glare shield, even with max seat adjustment). An addition of a seat cushion was all it took and he was nailing landings.
Fantastic airplane. I'll bet it was a blast.
I managed to get up for just over an hour this morning. Almost as soon as I was aloft a pesky pop-up storm built up over old Dalghren NAS. It got messy fast but was small enough to just move west a little and leave it behind me. I got a great view of a Pax River -60 that came out of the rain squall heading east to west just outside the DC SFRA. I wish I had a good camera, he had the storm clouds behind him with some rays of sun coming through...would have been an epic shot.
Been alternating kids flying but loving the RV.. Got a little over 16 hours in it now and everything is starting to hum.. I should have done this years ago!

It is a hot, hot day here in NOVA so I got up early for a “dawn patrol.” Didn’t help, I was off the runway by 7am and it already over 90! I put the canopy back and enjoyed the ride. Here a picture of the Dominion Raceway with some cars on the track for those who like motorsports.
