I saw this on MSNBC while doing homework, and I *think* this time article is alluding to it? In any event, it seems like things are certainly getting "interesting":

Some Iraqis speculate that the IRGC has already started a campaign of revenge with the killing of five American soldiers in Karbala on Jan. 20, nine days after the arrest of the IRGC members in Erbil.

EDIT: Ah, this is what I am talking about

It'll be interesting (ie, bad, real bad) if things escalate with Iran. We're definitly not in the best position to issue major threats to anyone at this point in time.

We had one, until some... "individual" locked it without saying who they were... before A4s locked it publicly...

My ears are getting warm. ;) Seriously, let's leave the emo stuff out of it and get this thread back on track.

Edit: Emo posts deleted. PM me if you have issues.

^^^

Kidnapping IS the Iranian and Iranian-backed thing to do, expecially these days...

But other than that, aren't we pretty limited to gross specualtion? :)

We did capture those Iranians in Iraq, and two were confirmed by Iran to be Security Officials from their country...

I wonder what the political fallout would be if two CIA operatives were captured in Iran... I love you U.N...

What do you base these staements on? Perceived Iranian might? Perceived US weakness? Do you think that we're so overextended now that we no longer hold any major military sway on the world stage? I'm interested to hear your answers.

While I don't completely agree with Thull, messing around with Iran right now really shouldn't be at the top of our list.........

57% of respondents on the history channel website believe the world should respond with military action against Iran...

is good to go
Where to begin? Although I’m not basing my decisions on facts, logically speaking I would not recommend trying to juggle three conflicts at one time. Although I believe our forces could manage, who would protect the home-front from counter attacks? What if our forces get stuck in Iran, similar to the current situation in Iraq?

I saw some guy on TV yesterday saying that a good option would be a precision strike against Iranian nuclear program sites. I don't really know enough about the region to know what kind of retaliation that would bring, but they suggested Iran might try to forcefully lower oil exports, and could possibly drive oil prices to $100/barrel.

Arguments about readiness and troop fatigue aside, it seems to me like military action against Iran will broaden the conflict in Iraq. Isn't this what we are trying to avoid? I guess the thing I don't fully understand yet is: What does the U.S. GAIN from an attack on Iran?

I think that responsibilites in one arena shouldn't limit our credibility in another. However, I see what you're saying. Just some questions for thull, that's all.

You may think they shouldn't, but does that mean that they don't?

I am inclined to agree that getting involved in Iran would be a huge mistake, given our current position right now. I know I'm just a boot Lt, but that's my perception.
