From USNI, a continuation of the argument to add diesel electric submarines as it appears our industrial base is incapable of significantly increasing nuclear submarine production:
The scenario that comes to mind every time this debate rears its head again is the Falklands War, when the invasion seemed imminent the UK deployed three of its SSN's to the South Atlantic and they got there well before of any other RN assets that were deployed in response, to the invasion to include their diesel boats. Only one RN diesel sub took limited part in the war, and guess who doesn't have diesel boats any more?
