We've now proven why Trump's rhetoric is more divisive than his actual policies. We've also proven the JMO theory that the media is merely a government tool to shape public opinion.
There are some J2s that need to get their acts together.
If we ruin our reputation by the end of Trump's term it will take generations or another major conflict to repair.

Some good news is that the Navy has turned around recruiting shortages, meeting its quota in 2024 and have surpassed all goals for this year.To the extent our ranks are filled with the later, no amount of ships (350 or otherwise) will much matter.
Does that apply to a ship? (In this context)
Even with GovFact's left/center bias, this is one of the better articles I've read addressing the PCA.We live in a world where people have convinced themselves it’s ok and even good that the Texas National Guard was ordered to deploy to Chicago.
That's an extremely well thought out article, albeit verbose.Even with GovFact's left/center bias, this is one of the better articles I've read addressing the PCA.

The Thin Blue Line Between Soldiers and Police: Understanding the Posse Comitatus Act
In the United States, a single sentence of federal law stands between the citizen and the soldier. The Posse Comitatus Act represents one of the most fundamental principles of American democracy: the idea that the military, a force trained for war, should not be used to enforce domestic laws...govfacts.org
It’s more than J2s. We live in a world where people have convinced themselves it’s ok and even good that the Texas National Guard was ordered to deploy to Chicago.
We are lost in the woods.
What do those number have to do with the concerns being discussed here? Hitting goals, great. People to put on the not-350 ships we have, also great. But to the issue at hand: whether or not those people understand the unique and privileged position of trust they've entered, and the supremacy of the union over a party/person...not sure what any specific number has to do with that. Some good news is that the Navy has turned around recruiting shortages, meeting its quota in 2024 and have surpassed all goals for this year.
In total, the Navy brought in 44,096 future sailors in fiscal 2025, the service announced on Wednesday — nearly 3,500 more than its target of 40,600. That’s more than any year since 2002.

Navy hits historic recruiting numbers with more ads, tattoo approvals
Fiscal 2025 was the best recruiting year for the Navy since 2002. The head of Navy recruiting credited the feat, in part, to streamlining tattoo approvals.www.navytimes.com
Clean killI don't disagree with your take, but the grammar Nazi/son of an English teacher in me can't let this go. There's two "T's" in Goose, boys.
That's an extremely well thought out article, albeit verbose.
But it completely misses the point of the argument, which isn't at all rooted in whether Trump can legally send NG troops from Texas to Chicago. It's about racism and using the military to kick out those damn illegal aliens because the damn libs create safe havens for them in their cities.
Just like the abortion debate isn't about when a fetus is alive, it's about punishing women for having sex out of wedlock.
If the purpose is really to generate violence and disruption leading to emergency laws, then it is clear why you want outside occupying forces coming in and not your local community. This is the thing. The Illinois National Guard should "deploy" to Chicago. That's the whole point. Citizens of the regional community helping the local community.
I believe they do, especially with reference to young enlisted. Most of the partisan divide we are discussing here is from college graduates with careers who have easy access to a microphone. Enlisted crews will take orders from their junior officers who in turn take them from above. My concern isn’t with their political “feelings,” it rests with those above who I hope don’t ever venture into the idiotic, low brow stuff we see today from our supposed “best and brightest.”But to the issue at hand: whether or not those people understand the unique and privileged position of trust they've entered, and the supremacy of the union over a party/person...not sure what any specific number has to do with that.
The general public angst against illegal immigration and support for militaristic enforcement would be a fraction of what it is today if the scapegoat wasn't brown-skinned people who speak English as a second language or not at all.I won’t debate your final point because it’s a throwaway line, regardless of how one feels about the medical aspects.
But….as for the first…I call total partisan bullshit.
