Yeah. Just got my packet completed on Tuesday. Now I sit and wait... Hopefully they'll be looking at applications as they come in instead of having to wait until the June Board.

I'm shooting for SNA.
7,7,7,65
3.4 Engineering and Economics- Vanderbilt University
Solid community service and LORs.

I know they already have a thread for this (kinda) but there is no Gouge on who's applying SNA/NFO and their scores. As people post here I'll throw together and update a spreadsheet. Thanks, and Goodluck!

I should be skirting the bottom line of 2.5 by a tenth or a hundredth of a point, haven't actually seen the transcript from my university. My recruiter has a copy, I'm going to give him a call tomorrow and hopefully find out/make sure. Thanks for the compliment, tests have always been my thing.
Not to sprinkle on your parade, I just hope that, aerodynamically speaking... the lift of your ASTB scores overcomes the drag of the GPA. I've never seen such a spread between these two values. Wishing you good luck!

I'm still in the process of finishing up my packet, but I will probably be going up for that board for NFO.

9,9,9,73
2.5 GPA in Mechanical Engineering for Univ. of Missouri @ Rolla
Solid LOR's.

These ASTB scores make me feel overly stupid at the moment, lol. Im a liberal arts major, that's my excuse!

BusyBee: I am concerned about the same thing, and if I could go back and do everything over again things would definitely be different, but I've got what I've got now, and am hoping to make it. Hopefully I'll get the chance to prove myself to the Navy.

He's just teasing, plus I think he understands that your degree is a tough one. I've heard in the rumor mill that ME is the hardest.

I know this may be going off the thread topic. Has anyone else been having their recruiter try and convince them to additionally apply on their packet for something that may not be a first choice?

Not that I have anything against other jobs that aren't my first preference.

I would, but only if they would tell me they would be happy doing that job.

Might be a hard question to answer, but do selection boards look down on applicants who only put one choice?

I've been told that if you input a choice, then you should be expected to go with the contract if one of your choices showed up on the contract.

A story the recruiter, before my current one, told me was that someone had placed 2, Pilot and NFO. He got NFO. He didn't like it and didn't want to take it. Needless to say it caused somewhat of a ruckus and he ended up not taking the deal.

My impression is they would look down on you for putting one, but would REALLY look down on a no show for an offer that does get placed out there. I talked to an Aviator at an air show. He only put pilot (whilst simultaneously applying for Air Force OTS), his recruiter didn't like it, but still ended up being ok because the board liked the packet. Worked out for him.

Yes, that wasn't meant to discourage, but to lift while reminding you that it's not a lock. I know first hand that any degree with a letter E at the end, is not easy... and I believe that will be taken into account. So remain positive, jn this case the killer ASTB scores are huge!;)

That's what I was thinking, thanks for the input.

Actually the opposite is more true, there are several designators where if you don't put them as the first choice the rate of selection is very low, the board doesn't know if you only put one selection down because of choice or because of the results N3M.

That's makes sense, thanks for your insight!
