Not to turn it into some kind of pissing match, but the same narrow minded point of view that the one dude showed with his playground comment was countered with the everyone who makes a ridiculous comment is by default a truck driving redneck statement. I dont think your political background has much to do with having the ship in SF or not. I live in SF and i know for a fact that the city is trying to get the USS hornet which is literally across the bay. They have some old WW2 Sub which is a great attaction. Having to many naval ships in sf would make the city look somewhat crappy. The city is also trying to save as much money as possible for the new niner stadium. Im sorry if i made anyone feel bad for not bad mouthing this great city....
let the people of SF, through their elected government (AKA democracy) decide their opinions....they have a very valid point...the military actively discriminates against people based on sexuality...period. Its wrong. They have a very valid, mainstream opinion. Maybe, just maybe, the military is wrong on this one and they shouldn't be ostricized for having an opinion and voicing it...its called democracy.

" You made fun of me during boot camp because I thought ur boots were cute so now im gonna get rid of ur little floating museum"... grow the fvck up... if you have a problem with the military due to anti-homosexuality/descrimination then you seek either monetary compensation or physical change in the ideologies or practices used in the services. USS Iowa museum could have brought a lot of capital to the area and god knows california needs money, another battle won for San Fran, good job guys smoke another bowl.

The military's job is to f**king kill people, not be opinionated and oversensitive to fragile little minorities. The military allows any able american citizen, of any race, or creed to serve. This is all it needs to do.
When a military force must succomb to being oversensitive, and use caution and effort to avoid hurting the feelings of unique little snowflakes, it becomes weak.
If you like to kick on your sheepskin loafers, and prance around on your purple carpet, watching richard simmons workout videos, fine. But you might catch a little flak in the military.

Nicely put. That was the first thing I thought of when I read the article. It's not the military's policy - it's the policy instituted by the executive branch, Clinton of all people. My issue with the gays that "come out" while serving is this: Hey, it's an all volunteer force, and you knew to rules coming in, so you've got no leg to stand on legally. Bottom line, keep your sexuality to yourself and carry out the Plan of the Day.freshy said:
