Alright... after reading stats from you guys (and girl) maybe I should just wait until October....

I didn't think you were allowed to use direct family members for references, whats the rule on that?

Also, if you wait till October you get to go up against me :devil_125

I don't know if you can or not i'm guessing its a no, otherwise my OR would have told me to use my dad. I actually tried to use him as little as possible in my package so i didn't seem like one of those guys who wants to fly "just because daddy did it".

Yeah I thought I remembered my OR saying no immediate family, maybe if the last name is different they won't notice :icon_tong

Yeah, "hey dad I'm changing my last name so I can use you to get me into the navy cool?"

Lol, I was thinking more on the lines of possible divorced parents, keeping mom's name, baby daddy types, etc. But that works too. P.S. Sorry bout the thread jack =\ Good luck September applicants!

Well my OR hasn't said anything, but I will definitely make it a point to ask him... I know its kind of cheesy to use your dad, but I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed.

Plus, I live in Boise freakin' Idaho.... trying to find retired military, especially pilots, is ridiculous.

Because he's your dad and thinks the world of you! Recommendations are written by people who believe in you anyway so honestly I don't think it makes a difference.

I'm hopefully applying for the Sept boards as well- I take the ASTB tomorrow, hope I do well )
