SNA Age Waiver for Non-Prior

Just out of curiousity, did you apply for both NA and FO or just NA? I was just wondering if you had FO open as an option to you.

Thanks again for sharing your story.

Nope- I never pursued FO as I was focused on piloting. SNA was only designator I included in the OCS package.

Thank you.

I spoke with a Senior Chief out of my NRD who is going to endorse a waiver eventhough I am a non-prior.

I asked about including a personal statement but to hold off until we hear back from the medical review prior to the FS being given.

Sclay, do you have any suggestions or advice in handling this waiver process to ensure I do everything in my power to make this happen?

Icedls01, do you have any follow-up information regarding your PR/FS?

Thanks to all for the information.

If it wasn't easy, then...

I had my waiver endorsed by the Commander overseeing my NRD (an O-5) in addition to the Lieutenant doing my package. You need to figure out who issues these decrees at CNRC Millington and get the most senior person you can find to help lobby your case.

there is always the option of enlisting before the 27th birthday and after you are in the fleet apply for sta-21 and get accepted before you turn 29. A roundabout way of doing things, but it could work if anyone is that desperate

I talked to my processor the other day and asked about the age waiver thing. She basically said there's no point in submitting an age waiver since I turn 27 next month, plus my medical stuff bounced back from OOM because I didn't have my post-LASIK eye exams completed by a military doctor.

1.5 years of paperwork and waiting, down the drain.

Good NEWS everyone!
Frealis,
Have you considered what Calcutta 126 said in the post above yours that suggested enlisting and then applying for STA-21? It could work. Just saying be sure to check out all of your options. Good Luck!

It is your career. Remain professional yet be proactive DAILY. If you get a "we will call you back next week" find a sneaky way to keep the comms going DAILY. YOu know you do not have time to waste.....don;t let someone waste more time.

I've gotten that ^ response a time or two...
I'm having a similar problem. No age problem yet, but my medical is taking FOREVER!!! It should have been as simple as a check in the box since my flight physical was already signed off on by the Flight Surgeon and Optometry. Any suggestions on sneaky ways to contact them without being a complete PITA? Can I contact Millington or whoever is processing my stuff directly?

Be a PITA, make them earn the pay you provide by paying your taxes. Nobody cares about your career more than you...never forget that.
