Sad

Just another sad...sad story.

This event has loosers only.

The admiring kids among the cheering audience...
The Navy-
The Pilots-
(in that order)

Don't know any of the details, but as the top brass has to apologize...the political 'cover your ass' and politically correctnesses carousel start to motion. Subject personell are manouvred into a political snakepit and one and only option to get out is to deviate from previous statements, making you...whatever. Anyway, not the monkey you want drag on your shoulder the rest of your career.
Aviators and SEALS however are known to stick to their decision.

We all know where that leads to...

Why did I want to become a pilot in the first place?

That's a good questions, because I can tell from your various posts that you're a little lacking in the maturity that is normally expected of pilots, particularly those who are priors. Naval Aviation is filled will rules. Some are arbitrary and ridiculous, but you don't get to decide which rules you want to abide by - that's the price of playing in this game. The "draconian" restrictions on fly-by operations are the way they are for two reasons. First, 9/11 changed a lot of things. Second, jackasses like this are blatantly violating the established rules. It's been done in every community, including mine. These two lost their wings because they tried to BS CNAL - nice try. Thanks for playing.

We all have dumbshit moments, one of the two stick monkeys in this incident has had more than his fair share.

I understand the lying was the catalyst for them losing their wings in this case... but normally, flying as a section in the wing jet.... are you looking at your guages at ALL as wing? I remember in primary that while in parade, you are eyes on lead at ALL times. If so, why didn't wing fall back on that explanation as to why he broke the hard deck with lead?

I was poking fun at the fact that, the perception among Navy types is that the USAF is a 'strictly by the books' organization, ...

Hacker,

My apologies. Hard to read between the lines sometimes. I've had the pleasure of flying the A-6, F/A-18 and F-15E amongst others. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps. All 100% professional and I never saw a difference in the accountability and as much as we give each of our services some friendly jabs, I don't think the Navy or Air Force come down any harder or easier than the other.

All the best!

I could easily be wrong...therefore I am...but the low level Blue Angel takeoff looked pretty familiar, like at the Cleveland Airshow some years ago. I remember standing on the pier thinking he couldn't be that low, then he pulled up. I think that camera actually had no zoom on it. Thread jack over.

The Blue Angel stuff was from the SF Bay Air Show a few years back. If it is the same photos/video I am thinking of, I was there for it. The show coincided with the Red Bull Air Races. Good times all around.

Edit: #1 was SF Bay, not so sure on #6 on second look.

Completely agree.
