Ask CVW-2 or CCW-5 about that...At some point every JO will deploy in their first tour

So it would be possible that a guy would fly combat missions and then be behind another person that went to a non deployed unit and completed the Level II syllabus? Or is it that by the time both people moved on to their next assignment, that they would have had time to catch up and leave with the same qualifications?
VP-30 (under old syllabus where NFOs got winged there)
NFOs are all winged down in Pensacola nowWhere do they get winged now?

Thanks to everyone for all the responses...another dumb question: how often are beards allowed underway?
As mentioned, it depends on the front office for each command/ship. When I was deployed, there was a push from the air wing to make No-Shave Chits payable to ship's MWR. It got a lot of support on the officer side, but apparently as soon as the Goat Locker got word of the plan they shut that down pretty quickly.
You're really selling me on the helicopter communityReally? That's SOP for small boys on deployment and underway. When you pull in, everyone has to shave, but when back underway, another round of monies goes to MWR.
When, after primary?
No, the have this multi crew syllabus thing that everyone who selects P-8/P-3/E-6/E-2 out of primary does in VT-4, get wings there then off to the FRS.

The one I remember from that cruise was the one during workups. When CAG wanted to tie the whole thing to passing COE. It was something like don't shave until you bolter/technique waveoff/foul deck waveoff, which caused you to have to shave beard, mustache, or both in some order or another. With some equivalent rule on females being able to wear their hair down or put it up. Way ridiculously convoluted. And then, as mentioned, the goat locker lost their collective minds.Really?
