Stupid Questions about Naval Aviation (Part 3)

He's got a decent Twitter account. Tried to reach out to send him some Masters stuff ( Eisenhower related ) , but never heard back.

I'm sure he's a bit busy these days.
Yeah, he’s become a minor social media sensation for his Twitter presence. Chowdah’s an E-2 guy, known him for a minute. Good people, glad to see the positive attention he’s bringing to his crew and Ike.

I sent him a classic "Hey Sir, I'm an Ensign and..." message on Twitter and he emailed me a reply in less than an hour. He's awesome.

Maybe a dumb question, I was falling down Wikipedia rabbit holes and noticed there’s a P-8 based in Dallas and all it says is it’s used by BUPERS. Why is it there?

For reasons. Some of them you might guess. Others you might not. Either way, it might be a goal to get there once you earn your wings and get through your first tour. Or not.

To prepare them for their future career flying for Southwest out of KDAL. Duh!!

Old article, but you can kinda get the idea of what they're doing.

Which Prowler Squadron used the tail code NR?

I looked and can’t find a prowler squadron with it.

Wikipedia would say that it never existed for modern VAQ. AD4(Q) (and maybe 5(Q)?) electronic sky raider tail code from the 50's, later redesignated "VV" well before the prowler's lifetime. NJ or NL seem to be the common ones not associated with a CVW. Maybe a composite squadron EA-6A? Or maybe some VMAQ?

None of the VMAQ squadrons used it, VX-9 is XE, VX-23 is SD.

I don’t think it was used in Prowlers.
