A guy in my class had a DUI. There's a waiver for everything. Just be honest about it and you can get past it.

Never heard of someone needing a legal waiver and to be honest I don't really know much about the selection process except that it basically involves high ranking people in a room saying "yes" or "no". I can answer things about OCS itself but even today I don't truly know why I got selected.

With that said I do know felonies where not looked highly upon.

I don't have a felony, VA hasn't gone that far in its crusade against speeders.

Right now, I don't know if I should say anything about it in my motivational statements since I've already written other stuff for the waiver.

In that case you don't have to put in the statement if you don't want to, but I would for sure tell your recruiter and put it on the background check. The statement is just you saying why they should select you.

I spent about $3000, the Navy gave me $1800 in my first paycheck to offset that. So $2200 out of pocket. I bought a few extra items (some additional PT gear, ruined one khaki shirt and had to replace it), but also got the cheaper option for the dress blues. You have to pay it off the week of graduation, so you'll have multiple paychecks in your account by then, if you're concerned about covering it. You can also put it on a credit card.

They'll issue you some that you have to wear and use for RLP. Can't get away with that save one nice pair for RLP trick anymore. The only time you'll maybe be able to wear your own is at the last few weeks when you have gym and track privileges. Some people really hated the shoes they gave us and took every chance they could to wear their own. I thought they were fine, never touched my civilian ones.
