Hello, all. Was trying to find some information on the recommended Belleville 800 ST boots and I found this comment and a few others on page 489 of this thread. As someone who has NEVER worn boots in my life, I thought it would be a good idea to buy them ahead of time to break them in, learn how to shine them, blouse them etc, so as to save time at OCS. With that being said, can anyone confirm if it is still ok to show up to OCS with the 800 ST's instead of using the ones issued to you? I know these comments on page 489 aren't that old, but from other messages I've been reading on Air Warriors it seems like things are constantly changing at OCS. TIA.
It's still fine if you bring your own pair. I brought my own 800 STs to OCS and it definitely saved me time by not having to polish it for the first time compared to my peers.

Question for any new accessions planning to class up for OCS/ODS this year: How bad is your delay in getting orders to attend?

I’m hearing from my recruiter and accessions personnel that PERS is majorly backlogged in generating my commission. So my orders cannot get cut yet. If I don’t receive orders this week, then I’ll have to push back my ODS class for the 2nd time. Mostly all due to the current exceptional political climate.

I was told this was a navy-wide issue and there are others in my situation. Thus, March ODS classes haven’t even been filled. Just trying to hear other peoples’ experiences.

A lot of government civilians are either being let go, voluntary resigning (don't want to return on-site every day) or are accepted the deferred resignation. So it's very likely you're not the only one impacted by this for ODS.

NOTE: This is ODS. For anyone else reading.

I was notified of selection in December, and am still waiting.

I’m headed to OCS in August. I am prescribed daily ADHD medication as well birth control by my PCM (I am active duty). I have a waiver for the ADHD and already received my fully medically qualified letter from the fleet processor.
My questions are, do I bring these prescriptions in original bottles to give medical during indoc week? Will I keep my prescriptions locked with my stuff during training?
My PCM usually does 90 day scripts for me but that’s not going to last the 13 weeks+ (if I need to be there longer).

I couldn't ctrl c+ ctrl v for some reason but heres a screenshot from an OCR sent to me that is a few years old. Hopefully someone can answer your last question about where you'll keep your medication as I haven't been to OCS yet but I hope this helps!

Try and get as much as your PCM will give you prior to going to OCS. But yes, you can bring meds that are prescribed and in their original packaging with you to OCS. You'll bring them to King Hall Medical and they'll review them and write you a new prescription basically stating you're authorized to keep your meds and take them as directed. In terms of getting refills while you're there, it's the same process and they'll get picked up from the NHCNE Pharmacy and brought to you by your CANDIO Med-Bods.

I’m looking at 1830 (Intel) and 1810 (Cryptologic Warfare) for OCS and had a few questions.
  • 33 y/o, MA in Science & International Security (UK, 3.7 GPA), 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Taking the OAR on 3/25.
  • ADHD history – took meds in the past, stopped in June 2024, got a PCP letter stating I don’t need them anymore.
  • Naturalized citizen.
Few things I’m trying to figure out:
  1. ADHD waiver – I’ve heard there’s a one-year wait after stopping meds before applying for the waiver. Anyone have experience with this?
  2. Dual citizenship & security clearance – If I get selected, is the SSO likely to block me because of this? I’d be willing to renounce if necessary.
  3. Foreign degree – Any issues with a UK master’s (KCL) for OCS selection or clearance?
  4. IWC board timing – Looks like June is the only IWC board left for 2025—is that right?

I can only speak to the foreign degree aspect as I am in the same situation. Still, from what I understand, if you are currently finishing the MA, you will have to convert the results of your degree with a Department of Education accredited conversion service —I would recommend World Education Services— and then convert it a second time upon graduating if you get accepted. Otherwise, you would just have to convert it once if you have graduated. As for selection, I believe it is not an issue, though I cannot say that authoritatively, and for the clearance, it's not an issue, just a bit more difficult to fill out.

Quick question about the medical exam that takes place at OCS: how in depth is it for non aviation? Is it like meps with the full body strip search, or just a quick q&a?

Hey guys, what sort of toiletries are you allowed/ not allowed to bring. I deal with acne and am wondering if I can bring some of the products I use to manage that. All of it is over the counter stuff so not worried about prescriptions.

They don’t let you have OTC only medications with prescriptions
