Hi all! I’ve recently applied to the most recent SWO board and am continuing with improving my physical fitness for the PRT/IST. My worst area is pushups. I can do about 10 right now and for my age and gender I need to do about 20. My main question is about how strict the DI’s are on form? My elbows flare when I am doing pushups. I can get down to about 90 degrees but I am unable to tuck my elbows to my body. The angle is about 75 - 80 degrees. I’ve been trying to fix it but have been struggling.

Obviously I am trying to make the form better, but if I’m only able to do these at boot camp will I get kicked out? Would love to hear someone else’s thoughts or experiences.

In hindsight, was there anything you wish you could've prepared for to make your experience easier?
If I could do it over again I would take the time to get down a lot of Bravo knowledge beforehand, studying no more than a month out. It'll just make the first few weeks soooo much easier. Other than that nah I enjoyed going in completely blind I wouldn't over think prepping for OCS other than getting good gouge on what to pack.

Question regarding PT shorts/shirts. Do you bring your own- assuming white t shirts, navy or black shorts or are they issues at indoc? Assuming issued but did not see it when looking through threads

The first day or two you wear civilian clothes while you are processing in. Typically day 2 you will do a uniform trip and be issued all the gear you’ll need. You will not wear civilian clothes again after uniform issue. You also will not do PT until after first Friday, so you will have uniforms by then.

Do we bring our own running shoes or buy them at the NEX?

You gotta love the glitches that happen with computers sometimes.

As someone who has foot issues proper running shoes are important, now will my post show up just once or will it show up there times?

If you work on proper form, the strength to do more will come. Here's a video on the proper push-up form:
