You can do anything once.

Not tough. Just long. I don't remember anyone not making it. If you suck at swimming get better, get some help from the instructors. they're there to help.

If your swimming is too weak to complete the mile swim, the instructors will pull you out of training well before that point. If you have some free time now, go ahead and get in the pool a few times a week. That said, the instructors at API are excellent, and their program will prepare you for all of the swimming evolutions once you class up.

The Mile swim was A LOT easier than I thought it would have been. I am not a strong swimmer and I did it in 54 minutes. The hardest part is staying away from the group. My class had 19 students and were broken up into two groups... ten people trying to go around the bouy gets crowded. After about lap 18 I got my second wind and just kept going... don't sweat it.

The mile swim wasnt that hard. I'm a pretty sh!tty swimmer, so I used the breast stroke the whole time and didnt get tired one bit. Finished in 49 mins and I was the slowest one in my lane! Just try not to get kicked in the face and high-five the guy on the otherside. It makes things more fun and less boring.

We had zero mile failures in my API class... 80 minutes is an amazingly long amount of time, and our slowest guy did it in under 60. Unless you really can't swim, its not a big deal (More people had trouble with the tower jump/underwater swim). My only advice, bring goggles, or suffer the wrath of the over-chlorinated pool. I'm pretty sure that most of NAS thought I'd been hitting the bong all morning after that event.

It's the rules. Because apparently you "can't" do that when out in the ocean. Just remember, it's all a game.

haha! yea, thanks to gatordev, I got through water survival. whew, dodged a bullet. Well, still dodging bullets.
