SWO BOARD 17AUG20

The sad part is, my recruiter knew I qualified for the NROTC BATT 2 miles from my house. And had I known, I would have had a much different career path. But they also got ninja punched for doing the things that recruiters do. My new recruiter was actually surprised at the amount of work they put in for me.
Hey don't beat yourself up! I mean you got a package submitted. You're headed in the right direction.

I'm not beating myself up at all. But it's good to share the bad things about what recruiters will do. And right after I posted that my XO had me talking to a kid, 3.6 GPA, wants to be a nurse, the recruiter knows. And he told her she can enlist, get college credits, and then get a nursing degree on active duty.

I scored 99 on asvab so I got the AECF job as enlist. That is the top tier job with very decent bonus. And I am currently waiting for this officer board result and if I don’t make it I will be happy to go AECF. Because many people have said (including those in MEPS and my recruiter ) and I have done my own research that AECF (advanced electronic computer field) can allow me to rank up very quickly.

You'll rank up quickly if you get FC and you will get stuck at E5 if you're an ET. However I love my job as an ET and have been very fortunate.

If I had to do it again I would because like you it set my path for the rest of my life. If a person has a goal of being an officer and has the GPA for it then going enlisted is taking the long route. I had a few that after sitting down with them what they wanted to do was along the lines of enlisted jobs, one wanted to be a linguist and spoke many languages, the other was a mechanical engineer but he wanted to turn wrenches on planes, what I had to offer did not line up with what they wanted to do.
I don't think someone should enlist with the only goal being a commission. They will be setting themself up for failure and probably will dislike their experience in the military because of it. For me, being enlisted made me grow up and I've learned so much. I didn't know what I wanted to do and after joining I realized I wanted to be like my first Divo. If the goals line up with what they would be doing civilian side it makes sense, but enlisting with the only goal of a commission is going to disappoint you.

Enlisting in the Navy was exactly what I needed at the time. It definitely changed me and made me a better person overall, but my goal at the time wasn't to get a commission. It wasn't until after my first semester of university that I realized I'd rather be back in the military than spend the rest of my career as a civilian.

Same here. I was young and dumb like the ship steaming at night with no instruments. Enlistment helped me mature and find my goals to pursue. It only took about 6 years until my senses kicked in. and we are in Week 2. Good luck and hang in there for our results!

Does anyone know the SUPPO selection rate? They only had like 6 or 7 people post on that board.

Thanks. I was more so thinking that of the six people that posted the scores they had weren’t that impressive compared to what I have seen on this board if I am being honest. And the selection rate out of the 6 was 5. So I was curious if anyone new the overall selection rate. Wasn’t sure if we could read the tea leafs from that on what to expect for SWO.

Supply Corps has around 120 "ish" quotas for the fiscal year and they get about 40-55 applicants per board, Please take into consideration that these numbers are estimations based off the at-board list and the reports from previous years.
