Hi, wondering if I may receive any input for options to continue to pursue an SNA packet.
I went to MEPS (January 2025) and everything passed, including all waivers, except for the following:
-NOT qualified for Unrestricted Line or 1390 due to corrected visual acuity that exceeds
MANMED standards for these special programs. Unrestricted Line must demonstrate 20/20
correction bilaterally.
Measured at 20/30 uncorrected at MEPS in left eye.
-NOT qualified for 1390 due to depth perception testing that does not meet NAMI physical
standards. Student Naval Aviators must demonstrate 40 seconds of arc or better to meet the
standards.
Measured at 200 seconds of arc at MEPS.
I was told I could seek a 3rd party vision consultation to contest these results, which I did. A licensed optometrist evaluated me at the following:
Visual Acuity: 20/20 OS & OD, DVA & NVA. Bilateral: 20/20 DVA + 20/15 NVA
Stereopsis: 30 seconds of arc (Method: Random Dot).
My recruiter resubmitted my paperwork, but after around a month wait I was told I was rejected again. Do I have any other options to pursue an SNA packet? Would talking to another recruiter give any different results? I am still confused about this situation as it seems my latest vision results from the optometrist met both the Class I: MSG1 standards, as well as the reasons that I was told my MEPS results did not qualify. I was not given any other options from my recruiter - I was told I could immediately apply for NFO, but other than that I was out of luck.
If it matters, I have already taken the ASTB-E. Results: (OAR): 55; (AQR): 7; (PFAR): 7; (FOFAR): 7

Your recruiter should be able to ask what documentation you need to get a PQ letter, there have been times where N33 stopped accepting civilian results, maybe they have started this again?
The people that make the decisions are in the same office no matter who the recruiter is. Going to a different recruiter is like going to McDonalds drive through and not liking how the hamburger taste then parking and walking in to buy one thinking it will taste better.
Do not apply SNFO if you want to be a SNA.
I was wondering if anyone had any guidance with the astigmatism requirements. The NAMI guide seems to state pretty clearly that the limit is -1 of astigmatism. However, I’ve seen a couple of posts here about people not having a problem when they’re over the limit. My vision is within the 20/40 uncorrected otherwise.

Hello, I just went to MEPS yesterday.
Today, my recruiter texted me that I was disqualified from the pilot position. I knew this was coming, so I am not surprised.
Is there a detailed report from my MEPS visit that I can request from my recruiter? I want to show it to my Eye doctor, and I would also like to see it myself.
Also, for those of you who got the surgery, did you decide on LASIK or PRK? my doctor told me I am eligible for both but recommended PRK after hearing why I want the surgery.

LASIK is the "easier" procedure with minimal recovery time. PRK has a longer recovery time, but can be an option for individuals who may not be suitable for LASIK.
If a doc is saying not to do both for medical reasons, heed the advice, as there are eye conditions which may cause complications that result in worse vision than before surgery. One example is a thin cornea, another is chronic dry eyes.
